ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Sn(CH(3))(2)Cl(2)(C(14)H(14)N(2))], contains two crystallographically independent mol-ecules. In each mol-ecule, the Sn(IV) atom is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by one bidentate 2,4-di-methyl-N-(pyridin-2-yl-methyl-idene)aniline ligand, two methyl groups and two Cl atoms. In the crystal, inter-molecular C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules. There are ?-? contacts between the pyridine rings of the ligands [centroid-centroid distance = 3.761?(4)?Å].

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Sn(CH(3))(2)Cl(2)(C(14)H(14)N(2))], contains two crystallographically independent mol-ecules. In each mol-ecule, the Sn(IV) atom is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by one bidentate 2,4-di-methyl-N-(pyridin-2-yl-methyl-idene)aniline ligand, two methyl groups and two Cl atoms. Project description:Two independent mol-ecules comprise the asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Sn(C(4)H(9))(C(13)H(12)N(3)O)Cl(2)]. The Sn atom in each is coordinated by the tridentate ligand via the phenoxide O, hydrazine N and pyridyl N atoms, forming five- and six-membered chelate rings. The approximately octa-hedral coordination geometry is completed by the ?-C atom of the n-butyl group (which is trans to the hydrazine N atom) and two mutually trans Cl atoms. Differences between the mol-ecules are evident in the relative planarity of the chelate rings and in the conformations of the n-butyl groups [C-C-C-C = 177.2?(5) and -64.4?(11)°]. Significant differences in the Sn-Cl bond lengths are related to the formation of N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, which link the mol-ecules comprising the asymmetric unit into dimeric aggregates. These are consolidated in the crystal packing by C-H?Cl contacts. The structure was refined as an inversion twin; the minor twin component is 37?(3)%.

Project description:In the title compound, C(12)H(13)N(5)O(2), a Schiff-base-derived chelate ligand, the non-aromatic heterocycle and its substituents essentially occupy one common plane (r.m.s. of fitted non-H atoms = 0.0503?Å). The N=C bond is E-configured. Intra-cyclic angles in the pyridine moiety cover the range 117.6?(2)-124.1?(2)°. Intra- and inter-molecular N-H?N and N-H?O hydrogen bonds are observed in the crystal structure, as are intra- and inter-molecular C-H?O contacts which, in total, connect the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. The shortest ring-centroid-to-ring-centroid distance of 3.5831?(14)?Å is between the two different types of six-membered rings.

Project description:The reaction of N-phenyl-1-(pyridin-2-yl)methanimine with copper chloride dihydrate produced the title neutral complex, [CuCl2(C12H10N2)(H2O)]·H2O. The CuII ion is five-coordinated in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, in which the two N atoms of the bidentate Schiff base, as well as one chloro and a water mol-ecule, form the irregular base of the pyramidal structure. Meanwhile, the apical chloride ligand inter-acts through a strong hydrogen bond with a water mol-ecule of crystallization. In the crystal, mol-ecules are arranged in pairs, forming a stacking of symmetrical cyclic dimers that inter-act in turn through strong hydrogen bonds between the chloride ligands and both the coordinated and the crystallization water mol-ecules. The mol-ecular and electronic structures of the complex were also studied in detail using EPR (continuous and pulsed), FT-IR and Raman spectroscopy, as well as magnetization measurements. Likewise, Hirshfeld surface analysis was used to investigate the inter-molecular inter-actions in the crystal packing.

Project description:The title compound, C12H9N3O2, adopts an E conformation at the imine double bond. The pyridyl ring makes a dihedral angle of 47.78 (5)° with the benzene ring, indicating the mol-ecule is twisted. In the crystal, mol-ecules are π-π stacked into columns parallel to [100], with an inter-planar separation of 3.8537 (8) Å, corresponding to the length of the a axis. The chains are further linked via weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming two-dimensional sheets parallel to (010). The sheets interact by van der Waals inter-actions.
