The one-dimensional organic-inorganic hybrid: catena-poly[bis-[1-(3-ammonio-prop-yl)-1H-imidazolium] [[iodidoplumbate(II)]-tri-?-iodido-plumbate(II)-tri-?-iodido-[iodidoplumbate(II)]-di-?-iodido]].

ABSTRACT: The organic-inorganic hybrid, {(C(6)H(13)N(3))(2)[Pb(3)I(10)]}(n), was obtained by the reaction of 1-(3-ammonio-prop-yl)imidazolium triiodide and PbI(2) at room temperature. The structure contains one-dimensional {[Pb(3)I(10)](4-)}(n) polymeric anions spreading parallel to [001], resulting from face-face-edge association of PbI(6) distorted octa-hedra. One of the Pb(II) cations is imposed at an inversion centre, whereas the second occupies a general position. N-H?I hydrogen bonds connect the organic cations and inorganic anions.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, (C6H16N2O)[CdCl1.90I2.10], a new organic-inorganic hybrid salt synthesized in the form of single crystals, consists of discrete statistically distributed di-chlorido-diiodido-cadmate/chlorido-tri-iodido-cadmate anions (occupancy ratio 0.90:0.10) and 4-(2-ammonio-eth-yl)morpholin-4-ium cations, [NH3(CH2)2NH(CH2)4O]2+. The cations are linked by inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming corrugated chains extending parallel to the c axis. The [CdCl1.90I2.10]2- tetra-halidocadmate anions lie between the chains to maximize the electrostatic inter-actions and are connected with the organic cations via N-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯Cl(I) hydrogen bonds developing in the ab plane and leading to the formation of a three-dimensional network structure. The tetra-coordinate CdII atom has a distorted tetra-hedral conformation, with a τ4 index of 0.87.

Project description:In the crystal structures of the title compounds, the cadmium cations are octahedrally coordinated by four halide anions and two pyridazine ligands in a trans-CdX4N2 (X = Br, I) arrangement and are linked into chains by the halide anions and the pyridazine ligands. The reactions of cadmium bromide and cadmium iodide with pyridazine (C4H4N2) in ethanol under solvothermal conditions led to the formation of crystals of [CdBr2(pyridazine)]n (1) and [CdI2(pyridazine)]n (2), which were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The asymmetric units of both compounds consist of a cadmium cation located on the intersection point of a twofold screw axis and a mirror plane (2/m), a halide anion that is located on a mirror plane and a pyridazine ligand, with all atoms occupying Wyckoff position 4e (mm2). These compounds are isotypic and consist of cadmium cations that are octahedrally coordinated by four halide anions and two pyridazine ligands and are linked into [100] chains by pairs of μ-1,1-bridging halide anions and bridging pyridazine ligands. In the crystals, the pyridazine ligands of neighboring chains are stacked onto each other, indicating π–π interactions. Larger amounts of pure samples can also be obtained by stirring at room-temperature, as proven by powder X-ray diffraction. Measurements using thermogravimetry and differential thermoanalysis (TG-DTA) reveal that upon heating all the pyridiazine ligands are removed in one step, which leads to the formation of CdBr2 or CdI2.

The structure is a three-dimensional polymer resulting from the association of PbI(6) octa-hedra and a mixed lead organic-inorganic PbI(4)(C(4)N(3)H(13)) coordination polyhedron. Both Pb atoms, two I atoms and one N atom lie on a mirror plane. N-H⋯I hydrogen bonds further connect the organic unit and some I atoms.
