ABSTRACT: In the title coordination polymer, {[Ho(C(7)H(2)NO(5))(H(2)O)(3)]·H(2)O}(n), the Ho(III) atom is eight-coordinated by a tridentate 4-oxidopyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate trianion, two monodentate anions and three water mol-ecules, forming a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic HoNO(7) coordination geometry. The anions bridge adjacent Ho(III) ions into double chains. Adjacent chains are further connected into sheets. O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving both coordinated and uncoordinated water mol-ecules generate a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework.

Project description:In the title compound, {[Ca(3)Eu(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(6)(H(2)O)(12)]·10.5H(2)O}(n), the Eu(III) ion is nine-coordinated by three tridentate pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate (PDA) ligands, forming a [Eu(PDA)(3)](3-) building block. The Ca(2+) ions adopt two types of coordination geometries. One Ca(2+) ion, lying on a twofold rotation axis, is eight-coordinated by four carboxyl-ate O atoms from four PDA ligands and four water mol-ecules, and the other two Ca(2+) ions, each lying on an inversion center, are six-coordinated by two carboxyl-ate O atoms from two PDA ligands and four water mol-ecules. The carboxyl-ate groups bridge the Eu(III) and Ca(2+) ions into a three-dimensional porous framework, with channels extending along [010] and [001] in which lattice water mol-ecules are located. Two of the lattice water mol-ecules are disordered over two sets of sites with equal occupancy and one water mol-ecule is 0.25-occupied. Numerous O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the water mol-ecules and carboxyl-ate O atoms are present.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Ce(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)(H(2)O)(3)](n), contains two Ce(III) cations, three pyridine-3,5-dicarboxyl-ate (pyd) anions and three coordinated water mol-ecules. One Ce(III) cation is coordinated by seven carboxyl-ate O atoms from six pyd anions and two water mol-ecules in a square-face-capped square-anti-prismatic geometry. Another Ce(III) cation is coordinated by seven O atoms from six pdy anions and one water mol-ecule in a bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The pdy anions bridge the Ce(III) cations, forming the three-dimensional polymeric structure. The crystal structure contains extensive O-H?O, O-H?N and weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds. ?-? stacking is present in the crystal structure, the shortest centroid-centroid distance between parallel pyridine rings being 3.509?(4)?Å.

Project description:The title compound, {(C(10)H(10)N(2))[Ce(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)(4)]·5H(2)O}(n), is composed of a one-dimensional anionic complex, a doubly protonated 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecule as a counter-ion and five uncoordinated water mol-ecules. The anion bears two nine-coordinate Ce(III) ions, each with a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. In the crystal, inter-molecular C-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, as well as π-π inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances of 3.514 (3) Å connect the various components into a supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The title compound, (C(4)H(8)N(3)O)[Cr(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)]·C(7)H(5)NO(4)·6H(2)O, was obtained by the reaction of Cr(NO(3))(3)·9H(2)O with pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid (pydcH(2)) and creatinine (creat) in aqueous solution (molar ratio 1:2:2). The cation is a protonated creatinine (creatH(+)) while the anion is a bis-pydc(2-) Cr(III) complex. The Cr(III) is coordinated by four oxygen and two nitro-gen atoms of two (pydc)(2-) groups and has a disorted octa-hedral coordination environment. The structure also contains a neutral mol-ecule of pydcH(2) that is hydrogen bonded to the creatH(+) and six mol-ecules of water. Extensive inter-molecular inter-actions, including seventeen classical hydrogen bonds, two weak C-H?O bonds, and C-O?? stacking inter-actions, with O?centroid distances of 3.211?(13) and 3.300?(12)?Å, connect the various components in the crystal structure.

Project description:There are two independent La(III) cations in the polymeric title compound, {[La(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O}(n). One is nine-coordinated in an LaN(2)O(7) tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry formed by three pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions and two water mol-ecules, while the other is ten-coordinated in an LaNO(9) bicapped square-anti-prismatic geometry formed by four pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions and two water mol-ecules. The two La(III) cations are separated by a non-bonding distance of 5.026 (3) Å. The pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions bridge the La(III) cations, forming a three-dimensional polymeric complex. The crystal structure contains extensive classical O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The crystal structure is further consolidated by π-π stacking between pyridine rings, the shortest centroid-centroid distance between parallel pyridine rings being 3.700 (5) Å.

Project description:The title compound, (C(4)H(12)N(2))(3)[Nd(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)](2)·15.33H(2)O or (pipzH(2))(3)[Nd(pydc)(3)](2)·15.33H(2)O (in which pipz is piperazine and pydcH(2) is pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid), was synthesized by the reaction of NdCl(3)·6H(2)O with the proton-transfer compound (pipzH(2))(pydc) in aqueous solution. The nine donor atoms of the three pydc(2-) ligands form a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic arrangement around the Nd(III) center. Considerable C-O⋯π stacking inter-actions between CO groups of carboxyl-ate fragments and aromatic rings of pydc(2-) with distances of 3.135 (5)-3.255 (5) Å are observed. In the crystal structure, a wide range of hydrogen-bonding [of the types O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O, with D⋯A distances ranging from 2.608 (10) to 3.278 (7) Å], ion-pairing and C-O⋯π stacking interactions connect the various components into a supra-molecular structure. There is a high degree of solvent disorder in the structure; the occupancies of five water molecules refined to 0.6, 0.5, 0.4, 0.25 and 0.25.

Project description:The title compound, {(C(4)H(12)N(2))[Bi(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n) or {(pipzH(2))[Bi(2)(pydc)(4)(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n), where pydcH(2) is pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid and pipz is piperazine, was obtained by reaction of Bi(NO(3))(3)·5H(2)O with (pipzH(2))(pydc-H)(2)·3H(2)O in a 1:2 molar ratio in aqueous solution. There are two independent Bi(III) atoms in the structure, one of which is eight-coordinate with a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry, and another which is nine-coordinate with a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The carboxyl-ate groups of the (pydc)(2-) ligands link dinuclear [Bi(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)](2-) units into one-dimensional coordin-ation polymers. The pipzH(2) (2+) cations (site symmetry ) and non-coordinated water mol-ecules lie between these polymers, forming N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds to the O atoms of the carboxylate groups.
