ABSTRACT: In the mol-ecule of the title compound, C(23)H(20)O(3), an intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond generates an S(6) ring. The central benzene ring makes dihedral angles of 80.17?(8) and 16.99?(7)°, respectively, with the benz-yloxy and hy-droxy-methyl phenyl rings. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds to form dimers. The dimers are connected by C-H?O hydrogen bonds and C-H?? inter-actions to form columns down the b axis.

The ordered and disordered conformers each form a C(8) chain built from a single type of C-H?O hydrogen bond but those formed by the disordered conformers differ from that formed by the ordered form.
