(E)-N'-(2-Chloro-5-nitro-benzyl-idene)-3-meth-oxy-benzohydrazide monohydrate.


ABSTRACT: In the hydrazone mol-ecule of the title compound, C(15)H(12)ClN(3)O(4)·H(2)O, the two benzene rings form a dihedral angle of 3.6?(1)°. In the crystal structure, the solvent water mol-ecules are involved in the formation of inter-molecular N-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds, which link the mol-ecules into double ribbons extending along the b axis. Inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions between the aromatic rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.712?(3) and 3.672?(3)?Å] link these ribbons further into layers parallel to the ab plane.
