ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(20)H(22)O(5)S, the dihedral angle between the mean planes through the thio-phene and benzene rings is 75.2?(1)°. The meth-oxy group is essentially coplanar with the benzene ring, the largest deviation from the mean plane being 0.019?(2)?Å for the O atom. The malonate group assumes an extended conformation.

Project description:In the title compound, C(12)H(10)N(2)O(3)S, the dihedral angle between the benzene and thio-phene rings is 43.17 (4)°. The crystal structure is devoid of any hydrogen-bonding inter-actions. However, π-π inter-actions between the benzene and thio-phene rings [distance between ring centroids = 3.6850 (11) Å] stack the mol-ecules along the a axis. The absolute structure could not be determined as the crystal studied was a racemic twin with a BASF parameter of 0.31 (6).

Project description:Two independent mol-ecules comprise the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(13)H(19)N(3)OS, which differ in the conformations of the residues linking the thio-urea and the terminal benzene ring, as manifested in the C(m)-C(m)-C(a)-C(a) torsion angles [78.03 (16) and -93.64 (16)°, respectively; m = methyl-ene and a = aromatic]. The dihedral angles [84.40 (4) and 88.28 (5)°] formed between the thio-urea residue and the benzene ring indicate an almost orthogonal relationship. In each thio-urea residue, the N-H hydrogen atoms are anti, and the terminal N-H hydrogen atom forms an intra-molecular N-H⋯N hydrogen bond with the imine-N atom. In each case, the conformation about the imine C=N double bond [1.2812 (17) and 1.2801 (17) Å] is E. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are connected by N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds and these are connected into four mol-ecule aggregates via N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, which are assembled into a two-dimensional array parallel to (011) via C-H⋯π and π-π inter-actions [ring centroid-centroid distance = 3.8344 (9) Å].

Both cations feature an intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bond. In the crystal, the components are linked by an extensive three-dimensional network of N-H?O, O-H?Cl and N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds (three of them bifurcated). Weak C-H?O intera-ctions also occur.

Project description:The title Schiff base, C(13)H(13)NO(2)S, adopts the phenol-imine tautomeric form and reveals an intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond involving the hy-droxy group and the imino N atom, forming an S(6) ring. The mol-ecule is highly twisted with respect to the central imine group, which is reflected in the dihedral angle of 67.83 (10)° formed by the thienyl and phenol rings. The crystal packing is characterized by weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯π inter-actions.

The dimers are further connected through slipped π-π inter-actions between symmetry-related benzene rings [centroid-centroid distance of 3.646 (1) Å, offset angle of 15.4°].
