ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Co(2)(C(12)H(8)O(12))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), each 3,6-dicarb-oxy-cyclo-hexane-1,2,4,5-tetra-carboxyl-ate (H(2)chhc(4-)) anion has crystallographically imposed C(2) symmetry and bridges four six-coordinate Co atoms, generating polymeric chains running along [010]. These chains are further extended into a three-dimensional network via O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions and inter-chain ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.662?(2)?Å].

Each Mn(2+) ion is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by two N atoms from one 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and four O atoms [Mn-O = 2.116?(2)-2.237?(2)?Å] from three bta(4-) ligands, which also act as bridging groups between the Mn(2+) ions.

Project description:The title compound, [Cd(C(8)H(4)O(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), is a new coordination polymer of benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate with cadmium(II) and 1,10-phenanthroline. The Cd(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms from the 1,10-phenanthroline mol-ecule, three O atoms from two crystallographically independent benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and the O atom of a coordinated water mol-ecule, forming a heavily distorted octa-hedron. The 1,10-phenanthroline ligand is approximately planar within 0.073 (4) Å. The two different benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate ligands each coordinate to two Cd(II) ions in bidentate and monodentate modes, forming an infinite zigzag chain. Adjacent chains are packed tightly by strong π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.851 (2) and 3.859 (2) Å] between the aromatic rings of the benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate ligand and the 1,10-phenanthroline of a neighboring chain, forming a sheet parallel to (011). Different sheets are linked together via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated water mol-ecules and the O atoms of the carboxyl-ate groups, forming a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(C(14)H(8)O(5))(C(12)H(8)N(2))](n), the Co(II) atom is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry by four O atoms from two chelating carboxyl-ate groups from different 2,4'-oxydibenzoate anions and by two N atoms from a 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligand. The two benzene rings of the 2,4'-oxydibenzoate ligand form a dihedral angle of 77.14?(16)°. Adjacent Co(II) atoms are bridged by 2,4'-oxydibenzoate anions to form a helical chain that propagates along the b-axis direction. Neighboring chains are further assembled by inter-molecular ?-? stacking inter-actions between inversion-related phen ligands [centroid-to-centroid distance = 4.0869?(8)?Å] to form a two-dimensional supra-molecular architecture.

In addition, there are ?-? stacking inter-actions between inversion-related phen ligands, the shortest centroid-centroid distance being 3.7536?(16)?Å. One of the two lattice water molecules shows half-occupancy.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the binuclear title complex, [Co(N(3))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))](n), each Co(II) cation is coordinated by two N atoms from one chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and four azide ligands in a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination. The two Co(II) cations of the binuclear complex are related by an inversion centre and are bridged by two symmetry-related azide ligands in both ?(1,1) and ?(1,3) modes. The ?(1,3) bridging mode gives rise to an infinite one-dimensional chain along the a axis, whereas the ?(1,1) bridging mode is responsible for the formation of the binuclear Co(II) complex.
