ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(25)H(24)O(4), a meth-oxy-methyl (MOM) bis-protected BINOL derivative containing a methyl substituent in position 3, is a key inter-mediate for the synthesis of a great variety of chiral auxiliaries. The planes of the naphthyl aromatic rings are at an angle of 70.74?(3)°. There are no conventional hydrogen bonds binding the mol-ecules.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(24)H(22)O(4), contains two independent mol-ecules in both of which the naphthalene ring systems adopts a transoid arrangement. The dihedral angles between the naphthalene ring system in the two mol-ecules are 83.0 (1) and 89.0 (1)°. There are slight differences in the C(H(3))-O-C(H(2))-O- torsion angles of the eqivalent meth-oxy-meth-oxy groups. In the crystal, weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are present.

In the ligand, the cyclo-penta-dienyl ring forms dihedral angles of 60.36?(6) and 82.93?(6)° with the two benzene rings of the diphenyl-phosphine group, while the dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 67.4?(5)°.

Project description:The title compound, C(32)H(20)N(2)O(6), was synthesized by the reaction of 1,1'-binaphthyl-2,2'-diol and 4-nitro-phenol in the presence of K(2)CO(3). Project description:The title compound, [Cu2(C9H10NO2)4], is built of discrete centrosymmetric dimers. The Cu(II) atoms are each five coordinated by two deprotonated Schiff base ligands that are bonded differently to the metal atoms. Of the two phenolate O atoms, one is coordinated to one Cu(II) atom, whereas another bridges the two metal atoms. The basal plane of the square pyramid around Cu(II) atoms is formed by the imino N and phenolate O atoms of the bidentate and the monodentate/bidentate Schiff base ligands. The bridging phenolate oxygen occupies the apical position of the coordination sphere with a considerably longer Cu-O bond length. In the crystal, the dimeric mol-ecules pack relative to each other in such a way that the Cu2O2 planes of adjacent dimers are orthogonal.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(36)H(30)O(4), contains two crystallographically independent mol-ecules of similar geometry. In both mol-ecules, the meth-oxy-meth-oxy groups are disordered over two positions with refined site occupancies of 0.613?(3):0.387?(3) and 0.589?(4):0.411?(4). The dihedral angles between the naphthalene planes within the same mol-ecule are 71.72?(7) and 71.73?(8)°. In the crystal, neighbouring mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming double chains parallel to the c axis.

Except for the two Cl atoms, all other atoms of the compound are nearly coplanar, with the atomic displacements from the mol-ecular mean plane ranging from 0.0037 (19) to 0.071 (2) Å. Project description:The asymmetric unit in the title compound, C(33)H(34)N(2)O(2)·H(2)O, consists of a V-shaped mol-ecule and a water mol-ecule to which it is hydrogen bonded. The angle between the mean planes of the two spiro-connected indane groups is 77.06?(5)°. The two five-membered rings of the indane groups have envelope conformations with the methyl-ene atoms adjacent to the spiro C atom forming the flaps. They have deviations from the mean plane of the other four atoms in the rings of 0.374?(4) and 0.362?(4)?Å. In the crystal, molecules are linked to form inversion dimers via O-H?N hydrogen bonds involving the pyridine N atoms and the solvent water mol-ecule. The dimers are linked into a chain along the b axis by ?-? stacking inter-actions between a pyridine ring and its centrosymmetrically related ring in an adjacent dimer. The centroid-centroid distance between the planes is 3.7756?(17)?Å, the perpendicular distance is 3.4478?(11)?Å and the offset is 1.539?Å.

Project description:The title complex, [CuII(ClO4)(mesoPYBP)](ClO4) {PYBP = 1,1'-bis-[(pyridin-2-yl)meth-yl]-2,2'-bipiperidyl, C22H30N4}, was prepared and found to crystallize with two crystallographically independent complex salt moieties. The metal atoms of the cations adopt a pseudo-square-pyramidal coordination geometry, where the tetra-dentate amino-pyridine ligands (PYBP) are wrapped around the Cu atoms in the equatorial plane. The Cu-O bonds involving an O atom of the coordinating perchlorate anion are approximately perpendicular to the plane. The two remaining non-coordinating perchlorate anions are involved in several C-H?O hydrogen bonds with the PYBP ligand and balance the total charge of the complex salt. The two crystallographically independent moieties are related to each other via a pseudo-translation along the a-axis direction. Exact translational symmetry is broken by (i) a difference in the conformation of one of the piperidine rings, featuring a chair conformation in one of the cations, and a sterically disfavored boat conformation in the other; and (ii) by modulation of the non-coordinating perchlorate anions.
