Aqua-[4-(hy-droxy-imino-meth-yl)pyridine-?N](imino-diacetato-?O,N,O')copper(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Cu(C(4)H(5)NO(4))(C(6)H(6)N(2)O)(H(2)O)], conventionally abbreviated Cu(IDA)(4-OXPy)(H(2)O), where IDA is imino-diacetate and 4-OXPy is 4-(hy-droxy-imino-meth-yl)pyridine, the Cu(II) atom exhibits a distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry, which is constructed from two O atoms and one N atom from a IDA ligand, one N atom from 4-OXPy ligand and one O atom from water. This mol-ecule looks like a space shuttle, the IDA ligand is its empennage (tail), and the 4-OXPy ligand is its airframe. The complexes are linked into two-dimensional supra-molecular layers parallel to (100) by three pairs of O-H?O hydrogen bonds. Two pairs of N-H?O hydrogen bonds further connect these supra-molecular layers, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

The metal centre is coordinated in the basal sites by one water mol-ecule and two carboxyl-ate O atoms and one N atom of the tetra-dentate ligand [Cu-O range, 1.9376?(11)-1.9541?(12), Cu-N, 1.9929?(12)?Å] while the apical site is occupied by a hydro-quinone O donor atom [Cu-O, 2.3746?(12)?Å]. The Cu(II) atom is six-coordinate with a distorted octa-hedral geometry, defined by the N and O atoms of the chelating 2-(2-hydroxymethyl)pyridine ligands and two carboxyl-ate O atoms from two monodentate pivalate ions. The crystal packing is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H?O and intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen-bond inter-actions.

Project description:In the title thio-cyanate-bridged polynuclear copper(II) complex, [Cu(C(10)H(12)NO(3))(NCS)](n), the Cu atom is five-coordinated in a square-pyramidal geometry, with one phenolato O, one imino N and one hy-droxy O atom of a Schiff base ligand and one thio-cyanato N atom defining the basal plane, and with one thio-cyanato S atom occupying the apical position. In the crystal structure, pairs of adjacent complex mol-ecules are linked through inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into dimers. The dimers are further linked via Cu⋯S inter-actions, forming two-dimensional layers parallel to the bc plane.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C12H16NO2)2], the Cu(II) ion, located on a center of inversion, is coordinated by two singly deprotonated Schiff base ligands derived from condensation of salicyldehyde and 1-amino-pentan-5-ol. The imino N and phenol O atoms from both ligands offer a square-planar arrangement around the metal ion. The Cu-N and Cu-O bond lengths are 2.0146 (15) and 1.8870 (12) Å, respectively. Since the Cu-O and Cu-N bond lengths are different, it can be concluded that the resulting geometry of the complex is distorted. The aliphatic -OH group of the ligand is not coordinated and points away from the metal coordination zone and actively participates in hydrogen bonding connecting two other units and thus stabilizing the crystal lattice. This results in a two-dimensional extended array parallel to (201).

Project description:The title compound, 2C(21)H(19)N(3)O(2)·H(2)O, was synthesized by a Schiff base condensation of 2,6-diformyl-pyridine with 2-amino-4-methyl-phenol in ethanol. In the crystal, two mol-ecules of 2,6-bis-[(2-hy-droxy-5-methyl-phen-yl)imino-meth-yl]pyridine dimer-ize via hydrogen bonding to a water mol-ecule, which lies on a twofold axis. There are also intra-molecular phenol-imine hydrogen bonds. The dimers are further linked via π-π (phen-yl-pyridine) [centroid-centroid distance = 3.707 (2) Å] and π-π edge-to-edge [3.392 (2) Å] inter-actions. The dihedral angles between the central ring and the two pendant rings are 11.46 (8) and 2.06 (8)° while the pendant rings make a dihedral angle of 10.14 (8)°.

Project description:The title cluster, [Cu4(C11H12N2O6)4], was obtained from the Cu(0)-FeCl2·4H2O-H4 L-Et3N-DMF reaction system (in air), where H4 L is 2-hy-droxy-methyl-2{[(2-hy-droxy-3-nitro-phen-yl)methyl-idene]amino}-propane-1,3-diol and DMF is di-methyl-formamide. The asymmetric unit consists of one Cu(2+) ion and one dianionic ligand; a -4 symmetry element generates the cluster, which contains a {Cu4O4} cubane-like core. The metal ion has an elongated square-based pyramidal CuNO4 coordination geometry with the N atom in a basal site. An intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond is observed. The solvent mol-ecules were found to be highly disordered and their contribution to the scattering was removed with the SQUEEZE procedure in PLATON [Spek (2009 ▶). Acta Cryst. D65, 148-155], which indicated a solvent cavity of volume 3131 Å(3) containing approximately 749 electrons. These solvent molecules are not considered in the given chemical formula.

Project description:The crystal structure of the tetra-nuclear title compound, [Cu4(C12H15NO5)4(H2O)4], has been previously reported by Back, Oliveira, Canabarro & Iglesias [Z. Anorg. Allg. Chem. (2015), 641, 941-947], based on room-temperature data. In the previously published structure, no standard uncertainties are recorded for the deprotonated hy-droxy-methyl group and water mol-ecule O atoms coordinating to the metal atom indicating that they were not refined; furthermore, the H atoms of some OH groups and water mol-ecules have not been positioned accurately. Since the current structure was determined at a lower temperature, all atoms, including the H atoms of these hy-droxy groups and the water mol-ecule, have been determined more accurately resulting in improved standard uncertainties in the bond lengths and angles. Diffraction data were collected at 200 K, rather than the more usual 100 K, due to apparent disordering at lower temperatures. In addition, it is now possible to report intra- and inter-molecular O-H⋯O inter-actions. In the title complex molecule, which has crystallographic -4 symmetry, the Cu(II) ions are coordinated by the tridentate Schiff base ligands and water mol-ecules, forming a tetra-nuclear Cu4O4 cubane-like core. The Cu(II) ion adopts a CuNO5 elongated octa-hedral environment. The coordination environment of Cu(II) at 200 K displays a small contraction of the Cu-N/O bonds, compared with the room-temperature structure. In the crystal lattice, the neutral clusters are linked by inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into a one-dimensional hydrogen-bonding network propagating along the b axis.

The square-pyramidal coordination geometry around the Cu(II) ion is completed by the bridging bipyridine ligand and an apical water molecule. Adjacent complexes are connected via O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds to generate a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.
