Bis(azido-?N)(1,10-phenanthroline-?N,N')palladium(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Pd(N(3))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))], the Pd(II) ion is four-coordinated in a slightly distorted square-planar environment by two N atoms of the chelating 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligand and two N atoms from two azide anions. The azido ligands are slightly bent with bond angles of 174.8?(4) and 174.5?(5)°. The complex mol-ecules are stacked in columns along the a axis and are connected by inter-molecular C-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. In the columns, numerous inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions between the six-membered rings are present, the shortest ring centroid-centroid distance being 3.607?(2)?Å.
