ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(12)H(7)Br(2)NO(2), a biphenyl derivative, displays a twisted conformation with the two benzene rings making a dihedral angle of 55.34?(14)°. The dihedral angle between the nitro group and its parent benzene ring is 26.8?(2)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H?Br and C-H?O inter-actions, which lead to the formation of chains propagating along the c-axis direction.

Project description:In the title biphenyl derivative, C12H9N3O4, the dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 52.84 (10)°. The nitro group attached to the benzene ring is inclined to the ring by 4.03 (2)°, while the nitro group attached to the amino-substituted benzene ring is inclined to the ring by 8.84 (2)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by two pairs of N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming chains propagating along [101]. Within the chains, these N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds result in the formation of R22(20) and R22(14) ring motifs. The latter ring motif is reinforced by a pair of C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, enclosing R21(6) ring motifs. The chains are linked by a second C-H⋯O hydrogen bond, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The title compound, C(12)H(6)N(4)O(8), is a biphenyl system that was synthesized as a building block for a new series of anti-malarial compounds. The aromatic rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 45.5?(2)°, and inter-molecular short O?O contacts form a chain along the b axis. The strength of the inter-actions involved in this chain cause one of the rings to be slightly distorted, with the torsion angle between the nitro groups being 23.4?(2)°, whereas, in the other ring, both nitro systems are parallel, forming an angle of 9.6?(2)° with the plane of the aromatic ring to which they are bound. Project description:The two phenyl rings of the biphenyl unit of the title compound, C(18)H(13)NO(3), are almost coplanar [dihedral angle 6.70 (9)°].
