ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(15)H(12)I(2)N(2)O(4)·CH(3)OH, the hydrazone mol-ecule exists in an E conformation with respect to the C=N bond. The dihedral angle between the rings is 11.9?(2)°. There is one intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond in the hydrazone mol-ecule. In the crystal, the hydrazone and methanol mol-ecules are linked through O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds and C-H?O inter-actions to form two-dimensional networks lying parallel to (001).

The benzohydrazide mol-ecule is nearly planar, with a maximum deviation of 0.126?(2)?Å. The mean planes of the two benzene rings make a dihedral angle of 9.3?(3)°.
