1,4-Dimethyl-piperazin-1-ium 3-hy-droxy-2-naphtho-ate.

ABSTRACT: The reaction of 1,4-dimethyl-piperazine and 3-hy-droxy-2-naphthoic acid gives the title 1:1 salt, C(6)H(15)N(2) (+)·C(11)H(7)O(3) (-), with a singly protonated piperazinium cation. In the crystal, a single N-H?O hydrogen bond links the cations and anions into discrete pairs and the aromatic anions stack along the crystallographic a-axis direction. This results in layers of cations and anions alternating along the crystallographic c-axis direction. An intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond is also present.

The mol-ecule as a whole is almost planar (the r.m.s. deviation of the non-H atoms is 0.0268?Å). In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds into infinite chains that propagate parallel to the c axis.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(17)H(19)NO(5), was prepared by a Hantzsch dihydro-pyridine synthesis from 4-hy-droxy-benzaldehyde, methyl acetoacetate and NH(4)HCO(3). In the mol-ecular structure of the title compound, the dihydro-pyridine ring adopts a flattened boat conformation and the plane of the base of the boat forms a dihedral angle of 80.8 (2)° with the aromatic six-membered ring. The packing is stabilized by strong inter-molecular N-H⋯O(carbon-yl), O(hydrox-y)-H⋯O(carbon-yl) and weak intra-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(25)H(35)NO(6), contains two independent mol-ecules. In each mol-ecule, the 1,4-dihydro-pyridine ring adopts a flattened boat conformation. The dihedral angles between the 1,4-dihydro-pyridine and benzene rings are 87.55 (7) and 87.23 (7)°. In one of these mol-ecules, one of the isobutyl groups is disordered over two sets of sites, with an occupancy ratio of 0.890 (2):0.110 (2). In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked through N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds forming two-dimensional networks parallel to the ab plane. The crystal structure is further stabilized by weak C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:In the cation of the title compound, C10H13N2O(+)·I(-), all non-H atoms, with the exception of the O atom, are essentially coplanar, with a maximum deviation of 0.04?(1)?Å. In the crystal, the cations and anions are arranged in layers parallel to (100).
