ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Fe(2)Ti(C(5)H(5))(4))(C(10)H(8)O(2)P(2)S(4))]·3C(4)H(8)O, contains a central seven-membered TiO(2)P(2)S(2) ring with a very similar geometry compared to the derivative showing anisyl instead of ferrocenyl substituents, the Ti-O distance being marginally longer for the anisyl derivative. Two tetra-hydro-furan solvent mol-ecules are each disordered on a twofold axis.

Project description:In the mononuclear title compound, [Tb(C(13)H(9)OS(3))(3)(C(4)H(8)O)(3)]·C(4)H(8)O, the lanthanide cation is located on a threefold rotation axis and is surrounded by electron-rich ligands in an approximately octa-hedral geometry. One of the thienyl groups and the bound THF are disordered with 0.5:0.5 occupancy. The free THF is disordered around the threefold axis.

Crystal structure of tris-(phenyl-seleno-lato-?Se)tris-(tetra-hydro-furan-?O)thulium(III).

Project description:In the title compound, [Tm(C6H5Se)3(C4H8O)3], the Tm(III) atom lies on a threefold rotation axis and is coordinated by three phenyl-seleno-late ligands and three tetra-hydro-furan ligands leading to a distorted fac-octa-hedral coordination environment. The Tm-Se and Tm-O bond lengths are 2.7692?(17) and 2.345?(10)?Å, respectively, and the bond angles are 91.32?(6)° for Se-Tm-Se, 92.6?(2) and 94.4?(2)° for Se-Tm-O, and 81.2?(3)° for O-Tm-O. In the crystal, the discrete complexes are linked by van der Waals inter-actions only. The crystal was refined as a non-merohedral twin (ratio = 0.65:0.35).

Three dinucleating O,N:N',O'-donor ligands provide three diazine (=N-N=) bridges between the metal ions, yielding a binuclear triple helicate structure with crystallographic C(2) symmetry, the rotation axis bis-ecting one N-N bond.

Two intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds are present, each of which generates an S(6) ring. In the crystal, N-H?O hydrogen bonds lead to a mol-ecular chain running along the b axis. The tetra-hydro-furan solvent mol-ecule is disordered over two orientations in a 0.561?(11):0.439?(11) ratio.

Project description:The title compound, C(11)H(20)N(2)O(2)S, is an enanti-omerically pure heterocycle-substituted thio-urea synthesized under solvent-free conditions. The thio-urea unit adopts a ZZ conformation, with the HN-(C=S)-NH core almost planar and the tetra-hydro-furfuryl groups placed below and above this plane. The whole mol-ecule thus approximates to noncrystallographic C(2) symmetry. Unexpectedly, the C=S group is not involved in inter-molecular hydrogen bonding, as generally observed in homodisubstituted thioureas. Instead, mol-ecules form a one-dimensional network based on weak N-H⋯O(heterocycle) hydrogen bonding, resulting in a zigzag ribbon-like structure around the crystallographic 2(1) screw axis along [100].

Project description:In the title binuclear silver(I) complex, [Ag(2)Br(2)(C(18)H(15)P)(3)]·0.85C(4)H(8)O, the two independent silver(I) ions are briged by two bromide ions. One Ag(I) ion is coordinated by two triphenyl-phosphine groups with a square-planar geometry, while the second is coordinated by one triphenyl-phine group with a trigonal-planar geometry. The structure is very similar to that of the dichloro-methane solvate reported by Zhu, Huang & Zheng [Chin. J. Struct. Chem. (1994), 13, 325-327]. The tetrahydrofuran solvent molecule is disordered and was refined with a fixed occupancy of 0.85.

Project description:Single crystals of the title heterometallic compound, [Fe(C(12)H(8)N(2))(3)][Cr(NCS)(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))](2)·3CH(3)CN·H(2)O or [Fe(Cphen)(3)][Cr(NCS)(4)(phen)](2)·3CH(3)CN·H(2)O, were pre-pared using the one-pot open-air reaction of iron powder, Reineckes salt and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) in acetonitrile. The asymetric unit consists of an [Fe(phen)(3)](2+) cation, two [Cr(phen)(NCS)(4)](-) anions, three acetonitrile solvent mol-ecules and a water mol-ecule. The Fe and Cr atoms both show a slightly distorted octa-hedral FeN(6) and CrN(6) coordination geometry with adjacent angles in the range 79.67?(12)-95.21?(12)°. No classical hydrogen bonding involving the water molecule is observed.

mer-Tri-chlorido-tris-(tetra-hydro-thio-phene-?S)iridium(III): preparation and comparison with other mer-tri-chlorido-tris-(tetra-hydro-thio-phene-?S)metal complexes.

Project description:The title complex, [IrCl3(C4H8S)3], was prepared according to a literature method. A suitable crystal was obtained by diffusion of pentane into a di-chloro-methane solution and analyzed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction at 100?K. The title complex is isotypic with mer-tri-chlorido-tris-(tetra-hydro-thio-phene-?S)rhodium(III). However, the orientation of the tetra-hydro-thio-phene rings is different from an earlier report of mer-tri-chlorido-tris-(tetra-hydro-thio-phene-?S)iridium(III) deposited in the Cambridge Structural Database. The IrS3Cl3 core shows a nearly octa-hedral structure with various bond angles within 1-2° of the perfect 90 or 180° expected for an octa-hedron. The structure of the title compound is compared with the previous iridium complex as well as the rhodium and other octa-hedral metal tris-tetra-hydro-thio-phene compounds previously structurally characterized. DFT calculations were performed, which indicate the mer isomer is significantly lower in energy than the fac isomer by 50.1?kJ?mol-1, thereby accounting for all compounds in the CSD being of the mer geometry. Powder X-ray diffraction of the bulk material showed that the preparation method yielded only the isomorph reported in this communication.
