Cis-(Di-2-pyridyl-amine-?(2)N(2),N(2'))bis-(thio-cyanato-?S)platinum(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Pt(NCS)(2)(C(10)H(9)N(3))], the Pt(II) ion is four-coordinated in a distorted square-planar environment by the two pyridine N atoms of the chelating di-2-pyridyl-amine (dpa) ligand and two mutually cis S atoms from two linear thio-cyanate anions. The dpa ligand is not planar, the dihedral angle between the pyridine rings being 30.8?(4)°. In the crystal, the complex mol-ecules are stacked in columns along the a axis and are connected by inter-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming supra-molecular chains along the b axis.

Project description:The mononuclear neutral title complex, [Ni(NCS)(2)(C(10)H(9)N(3))(2)], shows a cis-octa-hedral geometry around the Ni(II) ion, formed by two chelating di-2-pyridyl-amine (Hdpa) ligands and two thio-cyanate anions. Both amine H atoms are involved in N-H?S hydrogen bonding, resulting in the formation of layers of inter-linked mol-ecules parallel to the ab plane, which are further held together by weak ?-? inter-actions between adjacent complexes, involving one ring of each dipyridyl-amine unit [centroid-centroid distance = 3.777?(4)?Å], forming a three-dimensional assembly.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [MnI(C(10)H(9)N(3))(2)(H(2)O)]I, contains a cationic Mn(II) complex and an I(-) anion. In the complex, the Mn(II) ion is six-coordinated in a considerably distorted cis-N(4)IO octa-hedral environment defined by four N atoms of the two chelating di-2-pyridyl-amine (dpa) ligands, one I(-) anion and one O atom of a water ligand. As a result of the different trans effects of the I, N and O atoms, the Mn-N bond trans to the I atom is slightly longer than the Mn-N bond trans to the N or O atoms. The dpa ligands are not planar, with dihedral angles between the two pyridine rings of 26.2?(4) and 26.5?(4)°. The complex cations are stacked in columns along the a axis and are linked to the anions by inter-molecular O-H?I and N-H?I hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The Pd(II) ion in the title complex, [Pd(NCS)(2)(C(14)H(10)N(4))], is four-coordinated in a distorted square-planar environment by the two pyridine N atoms of the chelating 2,3-di-2-pyridyl-pyrazine (dpp) ligand and two S atoms from two thio-cyanate anions. The pyridine rings are considerably inclined to the least-squares plane of the PdS(2)N(2) unit [maximum deviation = 0.027?(1)?Å], making dihedral angles of 70.3?(2) and 69.2?(1)°. The pyrazine ring is almost perpendicular to the PdS(2)N(2) plane, with a dihedral angle of 86.3?(1)°. The thio-cyanate ligands are located on opposite sides of the PdS(2)N(2) unit plane and are almost linear [N-C-S angles = 177.8?(6) and 178.9?(6)°]. The complex mol-ecules are stacked in columns along the b axis and are connected by inter-molecular C-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming chains along the a axis.

Project description:The title compound, [Mg(NCS)(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], has been synthesized from the hydro-thermal reaction of MgCl(2), KSCN, 1,10-phenanthroline and H(2)O. Its structure is isotypic with the Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) analogues. The Mg(II) cation has a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry containing four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline mol-ecules and two N atoms from two thio-cyanate anions. The asymmetric unit contains one-half mol-ecule, and the complete complex has 2 symmetry.

Project description:The title compound, [Cd(2)(NCS)(4)(C(8)H(8)N(2))(4)], is a centrosymmetric dinuclear cadmium(II) complex in which each two metal ions are linked by a pair of thio-cyanate N:S-bridges. Two 2-methyl-benzimidazole N-atom donors and one terminal thio-cyanate N atom complete a highly distorted square-pyramidal geometry around the Cd atom. In the crystal structure, two N-H?S hydrogen-bonding inter-actions occur, resulting in a three-dimensional polymeric structure. The apical 2-methyl-benzimidazole ring and its symmetry-related counterpart are arranged in an anti-parallel manner with a centroid-centroid separation of 3.6050?(14)?Å, indicative of a ?-? inter-action.
