Diaqua-bis-(pyrazine-2-carboxamide-?(2)N(1),O)cobalt(II) dinitrate.

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Co(C(5)H(5)N(3)O)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](NO(3))(2), contains one half of a Co(II) cationic unit and a nitrate anion. The entire [Co(C(5)H(5)N(3)O)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](2+) cationic unit is completed by the application of inversion symmetry at the Co(II) site, generating a six-coordinate distorted octa-hedral environment for the metal ion. The chelating pyrazine-2-carboxamide mol-ecules are bound to cobalt via N and O atoms, forming a square plane, while the remaining two trans positions in the octa-hedron are occupied by two coordinated water mol-ecules.

Project description:The title compound, {[Co(C10H8N2)2(H2O)2](NO3)2·4H2O} n , (C10H8N2 = 4,4'-bipyridine = 4,4'-bpy) is a layered coordination polymer built up from a cationic square grid extending in (101) enclosing uncoordinating nitrate ions and water mol-ecules. The Co(II) ion has site symmetry 2 and one of the 4,4'-bpy ligands is generated by twofold symmetry [two N atoms and two C atoms lie on the rotation axis and the dihedral angle between the pyridine rings is 45.66?(5)°]. The other 4,4'-bpy ligand is generated by a crystallographic inversion center. The Co(II) ion exhibits a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry defined by two O atoms of two coordinating water mol-ecules and four N atoms from four bridging 4,4'-bpy ligands. Project description:In the title compound, [Cd(NO(3))(2)(C(5)H(5)N(3)O)(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·2C(5)H(5)N(3)O, the Cd(II) cation is located on a twofold rotation axis and is coordinated by two pyrazine-2-carboxamide ligands and two water mol-ecules and chelated by two nitrate anions in a distorted square-anti-prismatic geometry. Extensive inter-molecular N-H?O, N-H?N, O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds, as well as weak inter-molecular C-H?N and C-H?O inter-actions occur in the crystal. ?-? stacking between between pyrazine rings of coordinating ligands and lattice molecules [centroid-centroid distance = 3.5669?(14)?Å] may further stabilize the structure.

Project description:The title complex, [Co(C(7)H(4)NO(3)S)(2)(C(2)H(6)OS)(2)(H(2)O)(2)], contains a Co(2+) cation in an octa-hedral coordination environment. The metal atom is surrounded by two different neutral ligands, namely dimethyl-sulfoxide (DMSO) and water, each coordinating through the O atom. The anionic saccharinate (sac; 1,1,3-trioxo-2,3-dihydro-1?(6),2-benzothia-zol-2-ide) ligand coordinates through the N atom. Each of the three similar ligand pairs is in a trans configuration with respect to each other. The Co atom lies on a crystallographic center of symmetry and the octa-hedral geometry is not significantly distorted. A short O-H?O hydrogen bond is present between a water H atom and the ketone O atom; two longer hydrogen bonds (intra- and inter-molecular) are also present between a water H and a sulfonic O atom, forming a supramolecular assembly through head-to-tail aggregation between adjacent complexes.

The crystal packing is dominated by inter-molecular O-H?O, O-H?N and N-H?O hydrogen bonding involving the water mol-ecules and amino groups as donors and carboxyl-ate O atoms, as well as the non-coordinating heterocyclic N atoms as acceptors, resulting in a three-dimensional network. An intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bond is also observed.
