Catena-Poly[[bis-(pyridine-3-carb-oxy-lic acid-?N)mercury(II)]-di-?-chlorido].

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [HgCl(2)(C(6)H(5)NO(2))(2)](n), the Hg(II) cation is located on an inversion center and is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by two N atoms from two pyridine-3-carb-oxy-lic acid mol-ecules and four bridging Cl(-) anions. The bridging function of the Cl(-) anions leads to polymeric chains running along the a axis. One Hg-Cl bond is much longer than the other. In the crystal, O-H?O and weak C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds are observed.

In the crystal, adjacent mercury ions are bridged by pairs of chloride ions, generating infinite [100] chains, and N-H⋯O and N-H⋯(N,N) hydrogen bonds help to consolidate the packing.

Adjacent Cd(II) atoms are inter-connected alternately by paired chloride bridges, generating a chain parallel to the a axis. Inter-chain N-H?Cl inter-actions form a two-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title complex, [Fe(C(2)O(4))(C(5)H(4)N(2)O(4))](n), the Fe(II) ion is coordinated by two oxalate anions and a pyrimidine-2-carb-oxy-lic acid ligand in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. Each oxalate anion chelates to two Fe(II) ions, forming chains along the a axis. The chains are further connected by O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, stabilizing the structure. An intra-molecular O-H⋯N inter-action results in a five-membered ring.

Project description:The title one-dimensional coordination polymer, [Zn(C9H4O6)(C5H5N)2] n or [Zn(HBTC)(py)2] n , (I), where BTC is benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylate and py is pyridine, is a solvent-free polymorph of [Zn(HBTC)(py)2]·2C2H5OH [Yaghi et al. (1997 ▶). Chem. Mater. 9, 1074-1076]. Differences in the spatial arrangements and supra-molecular packing of the [Zn(HBTC)(py)2] n chains in the two structures are described. The chain in (I) extends parallel to [100] and is severely puckered, with a Zn⋯Zn distance of 8.3599 (3) Å and a Zn⋯Zn⋯Zn angle of 107.516 (3)°, as a result of hydrogen-bonding inter-actions of the types O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O. There is no evidence for π-π inter-actions in (I). The differences between the solvent-free and solvent-containing structures can be accounted for by the absence of the ethanol solvent mol-ecule and the use of the converging pair of O atoms in the bis-monodentate bridging HBTC(2-) ligand in (I).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [CdCl(2)(C(8)H(6)N(2)O)(2)](n), consists of one mol-ecule of the 3H-quinazolin-4-one ligand, one Cd(2+) cation, which is located on a twofold axis, and one chlorido ligand in a general position. The latter bridges metal cations, forming a one-dimensional polymer along the b axis. The Cd?Cd distance along the chain is 3.7309?(7)?Å. The octa-hedral coordination around the metal is completed by two ligands in a trans axial geometry which coordinate through the N atom in 1 position. Moderately strong classical N-H?O hydrogen bonds around crystallographic inversion centers cross-link adjacent polymeric chains.

Project description:Single crystals of the title organic-inorganic hybrid, {(C(5)H(7)N(2))(2)[MnCl(2)(H(2)O)(2)]Cl(2)}(n), were synthesized from an ethanol solution containing manganese(II) chloride tetra-hydrate and 4-amino-pyridine under acidic conditions. The asymmetric unit contains a disordered organic cation (occupancies in the ratio 0.72:0.28), a chloride anion and an MnCl(H(2)O) moiety with the Mn(II) atom located on an inversion center. The structure is built up of infinite chains of edge-sharing [MnCl(4)(H(2)O)(2)] octa-hedra developing parallel to the a axis which are separated by the 4-amino-pyridinium ions and discrete chloride ions. The organic cations occupy the empty space around each inorganic chain. Structural cohesion is organized through N-H?Cl and O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, which build up a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title polymer, [Co2(C3H3O4)2Cl2(H2O)2] n , comprises one Co(II) atom, one water mol-ecule, one singly deprotonated malonic acid mol-ecule (HMal(-); systematic name 2-carb-oxy-acetate) and one Cl(-) anion. The Co(II) atom is octa-hedrally coordinated by the O atom of a water mol-ecule, by one terminally bound carboxyl-ate O atom of an HMal(-) anion and by two O atoms of a chelating HMal(-) anion, as well as by two Cl(-) anions. The Cl(-) anions bridge two Co(II) atoms, forming a centrosymmetric Co2Cl2 core. Each malonate ligand is involved in the formation of six-membered chelate rings involving one Co(II) atom of the dinuclear unit and at the same time is coordinating to another Co(II) atom of a neighbouring dinuclear unit in a bridging mode. The combination of chelating and bridging coordination modes leads to the formation of a two-dimensional coordination polymer extending parallel to (001). Within a layer, O-Hwater?Cl and O-Hwater?O hydrogen bonds are present. Adjacent layers are linked through O-H?O=C hydrogen bonds involving the carb-oxy-lic acid OH and carbonyl groups.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(8)H(4)NO(6))(2)(C(13)H(14)N(2))](n), the square-planar coordinated Cu(II) ion lies on an inversion centre and is coordinated by two protonated 5-nitro-isophthalate ligands. The Cu(II) ions are linked into a one-dimensional coordination polymer by tethering 1,3-di-4-pyridylpropane ligands, whose central methyl-ene C atoms are situated on twofold rotation axes. The chains are oriented parallel to the c axis, and stack into a supra-molecular three-dimensional structure through O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.
