Catena-Poly[[bis-(pyridine-3-carb-oxy-lic acid-?N)mercury(II)]-di-?-chlorido].

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [HgCl(2)(C(6)H(5)NO(2))(2)](n), the Hg(II) cation is located on an inversion center and is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by two N atoms from two pyridine-3-carb-oxy-lic acid mol-ecules and four bridging Cl(-) anions. The bridging function of the Cl(-) anions leads to polymeric chains running along the a axis. One Hg-Cl bond is much longer than the other. In the crystal, O-H?O and weak C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds are observed.

In the crystal, adjacent mercury ions are bridged by pairs of chloride ions, generating infinite [100] chains, and N-H⋯O and N-H⋯(N,N) hydrogen bonds help to consolidate the packing.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cd(2)Cl(6)(C(4)H(10)NO)(2)](n), the coordination geometry of each Cd(II) ion is distorted octa-hedral, but with quite different coordination environments. One Cd(II) atom is coordinated by four Cl atoms and two O atoms from two morpholinium ligands, while the other is coordinated by six Cl atoms. Adjacent Cd(II) atoms are inter-connected alternately by paired chloride bridges, generating a chain parallel to the a axis. Inter-chain N-H?Cl inter-actions form a two-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title complex, [Fe(C(2)O(4))(C(5)H(4)N(2)O(4))](n), the Fe(II) ion is coordinated by two oxalate anions and a pyrimidine-2-carb-oxy-lic acid ligand in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. Each oxalate anion chelates to two Fe(II) ions, forming chains along the a axis. The chains are further connected by O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, stabilizing the structure. An intra-molecular O-H⋯N inter-action results in a five-membered ring.

Project description:The title one-dimensional coordination polymer, [Zn(C9H4O6)(C5H5N)2] n or [Zn(HBTC)(py)2] n , (I), where BTC is benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylate and py is pyridine, is a solvent-free polymorph of [Zn(HBTC)(py)2]·2C2H5OH [Yaghi et al. (1997 ▶). Chem. Mater. 9, 1074-1076]. Differences in the spatial arrangements and supra-molecular packing of the [Zn(HBTC)(py)2] n chains in the two structures are described. The chain in (I) extends parallel to [100] and is severely puckered, with a Zn⋯Zn distance of 8.3599 (3) Å and a Zn⋯Zn⋯Zn angle of 107.516 (3)°, as a result of hydrogen-bonding inter-actions of the types O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O. There is no evidence for π-π inter-actions in (I). The differences between the solvent-free and solvent-containing structures can be accounted for by the absence of the ethanol solvent mol-ecule and the use of the converging pair of O atoms in the bis-monodentate bridging HBTC(2-) ligand in (I).

Project description:The title polymer, [Cu(2)Cl(2)(C(9)H(9)N(5))(2)](n), has been prepared by the solvothermal treatment of CuCl with 4-(2-allyl-2H-tetra-zol-5-yl)pyridine. The crystal structure shows that the title compound is a homometallic Cu(I)-olefin coordination polymer, in which the Cu(2)Cl(2) nodes are bridged by two olefin ligands. The asymmetric unit contains one-half of the monomer, the complete monomer having twofold rotation symmetry. The coordination environment of Cu(I) is slightly distorted tetra-hedral, with coordination sites being two ?(2)-Cl atoms, one pyridine N atom of an organic ligand and one allylic double bond of a symmetry-related ligand. Each organic mol-ecule behaves as a bidentate ligand, connecting two neighboring Cu(2)Cl(2) dimers in the polymeric chain, which runs along [010].

Project description:The crystal structure of the title complex, {(C(2)H(8)N)[CuCl(2)(N(3))]}(n), exhibits inorganic chains consisting of Cu(II) cations as well azide and chloride anions. The chains, made up from Cu-Cl-Cu-N-Cu linkages, are aligned parallel to the c axis. This architecture is further stabilized by a number of N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds involving the protonated charge-compensating dimethyl-amine cations and chloride atoms.

The latter bridges metal cations, forming a one-dimensional polymer along the b axis. The Cd?Cd distance along the chain is 3.7309?(7)?Å. The octa-hedral coordination around the metal is completed by two ligands in a trans axial geometry which coordinate through the N atom in 1 position. Moderately strong classical N-H?O hydrogen bonds around crystallographic inversion centers cross-link adjacent polymeric chains.

Project description:Single crystals of the title organic-inorganic hybrid, {(C(5)H(7)N(2))(2)[MnCl(2)(H(2)O)(2)]Cl(2)}(n), were synthesized from an ethanol solution containing manganese(II) chloride tetra-hydrate and 4-amino-pyridine under acidic conditions. The asymmetric unit contains a disordered organic cation (occupancies in the ratio 0.72:0.28), a chloride anion and an MnCl(H(2)O) moiety with the Mn(II) atom located on an inversion center. The structure is built up of infinite chains of edge-sharing [MnCl(4)(H(2)O)(2)] octa-hedra developing parallel to the a axis which are separated by the 4-amino-pyridinium ions and discrete chloride ions. The organic cations occupy the empty space around each inorganic chain. Structural cohesion is organized through N-H?Cl and O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, which build up a three-dimensional network.
