Aqua-[1-(1,10-phenanthrolin-2-yl-?(2)N,N')-1H-pyrazol-3-amine-?N(2)](sulfato-?O)copper(II) methanol monosolvate dihydrate.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Cu(SO(4))(C(15)H(11)N(5))(H(2)O)]·CH(3)OH·2H(2)O, the Cu(II) ion is in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, in which three N atoms from the chelating 1-(1,10-phenanthrolin-2-yl)-1H-pyrazol-3-amine ligand and one O atom from a sulfate anion define the basal plane and the O atom from the coordinating water mol-ecule is located at the apex. In the crystal, hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving the coordinating and solvent water mol-ecules, the methanol solvent mol-ecule and the amine group (one with an intra-molecular inter-action to one of the sulfate O atoms) of the complex are observed. ?-? inter-actions between symmetry-related phenantroline moieties, with a shortest centroid-centroid inter-action of 3.573?(2)°, are also present.

Project description:In the title compound, (C₁₄H₁₃N₂)[FeCl₄]·CH₃OH, the 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthrolin-1-ium cation, FeCl₄ ⁻ anion and methanol solvent mol-ecule lie on a twofold rotation axis. Due to symmetry, the H atom on the N atom of the cation is half-occupied. In the anion, the Fe(III) atom has a tetra-hedral geometry. H atoms of the methanol mol-ecule are disordered over two sets of sites around the twofold axis. In the crystal, π-π contacts between the pyridine rings and between the pyridine and benzene rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.6535 (16) and 3.5522 (17) Å] and inter-molecular O-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds stabilize the structure.

Project description:The title complex, [Cu(SO(4))(C(10)H(9)N(3))(CH(3)OH)], is a mononuclear species with the Cu(II) ion in a Jahn-Teller-distorted '4 + 1' square-pyramidal geometry. The basal plane is defined by the pyridyl N-atom donors of the bipyridyl-amine (bpa) ligand and two O-atom donors of the sulfate ligand. The coordination geometry is completed by the axial coordination of a methanol O-atom donor. The axial bond length displays the usual elongation: Cu-O(axial) = 2.168?(2), Cu-O(basal) = 2.016?(2) (average) and Cu-N(basal) = 1.951?(3)?Å (average). In the crystal structure, the complex mol-ecules are linked through N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds into chains along [100].

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(SO4)(C12H8N2)2]·C2H5OH, arises from the assembly of the neutral complex [Cu(SO4)(C12H8N2)2] and an ethanol solvent mol-ecule. The Cu(II) ion is five-coordinate, surrounded by two pairs of N atoms from two independent N,N'-chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligands, and one O atom of monodentate sulfate ligand, in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal fashion. Spatial orientation of the ligands and the assembly in the solid state are stabilized by the C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, established between the O atoms (from the sulfate ligand and the ethanol mol-ecule) and the neighbouring 1,10-phenanthroline mol-ecules. There is also an offset face-to-face ?-? stacking between the 1,10-phenanthroline ligands. The ethanol solvent mol-ecule is disordered over two orientations in the ratio 0.663?(10):0.337?(10). The crystal examined was subject to racemic twinning and the refined twin fraction was 0.346?(19).

Project description:In the title dinuclear In(III) compound, [In(2)(SO(4))(3)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·2H(2)O, each In(III) cation is coordinated by a 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligand, a water mol-ecule and three sulfate O atoms in a distorted InN(2)O(4) octa-hedral geometry. Three sulfate anions bridge two In(III) cations, forming the dinuclear entities. O-H⋯O and weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding is observed in the crystal structure. The crystal structure is further consolidated by π-π stacking between nearly parallel phen ring systems [dihedral angle = 4.2 (4)°], the centroid-centroid distance between benzene rings of adjacent phen ligands being 3.528 (9) Å.

The four N atoms comprise a square and the one O atom the apex of a square pyramid. The two chelating N(2)C(2) groups are oriented at 71.1 (2)°. In the crystal, the components are connected by inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding. The presence of pseudosymmetry in the structure suggests the higher symmetry space group C2/c, but attempts to refine the structure in this space group resulted in an unsatisfactory model.

The two chelating N2C2 groups subtend a dihedral angle of 71.10?(15)°. In the crystal, the solvent mol-ecule forms two O-H?O hydrogen bonds to its adjacent complex mol-ecule. The chosen crystal was found to be a racemic twin; the presence of pseudosymmetry in the structure suggests the higher symmetry space group C2/c, but attempts to refine the structure in this space group resulted in an unsatisfactory model and high R and wR values.

The phenanthroline chelate ring plane is slightly distorted from planarity (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0057?Å), whereas the five-membered ring formed by the valinate ligand presents an envelope conformation with the N atom being the flap atom. The crystal packing is stabilized by O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, creating a three-dimensional network superstructure.

The carboxyl end of one hydrogen tartrate anion forms a short hydrogen bond to the carboxyl-ate end of another anion [O?O = 2.508?(2)?Å] in a head-to-tail manner, forming a chain; the chains and water mol-ecules inter-act, generating an O-H?O hydrogen-bonded layer. The cation binds to the layer by an N-H?O hydrogen bond.
