The two pyridine rings form a dihedral angle of 41.02?(4)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via C-H?O and C-H?N hydrogen bonds into a layer parallel to the bc plane.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, C(30)H(30)O(4), comprises two crystallographically independent half-mol-ecules which are completed by crystallographic twofold symmetry. Project description:The title compound, {[Cu(C(12)H(6)N(2)O(4))(H(2)O)(3)]·H(2)O}(n), was synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. The Cu(2+) ion is six-coordinated by three water O atoms, and two N atoms and one O atom of the 2,2'-bipyridine-3,3'-dicarboxyl-ate bridging ligand in a sligthly distorted octa-hedral environment. The 2,2-bipyridine-3,3'-dicarboxyl-ate bridges link the Cu(2+) ions into chains along the b-axis direction. These chains are further linked by O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the water solvent mol-ecules, forming a three-dimensional framework.
