Quorum sensing in the bacterium Rhodopseudomonas palustris involves the RpaI signal synthase, which produces p-coumaroyl-homoserine lactone (pC-HSL) and RpaR, which is a pC-HSL-dependent transcriptional activator. There is also an antisense rpaR transcript (asrpaR) of unknown function.
