Catena-Poly[[dichloridomercury(II)]-?-{N-[(E)-pyridin-2-yl-methyl-idene-?N]pyridin-3-amine-?(2)N(1):N(3)}].

ABSTRACT: In the title coordination polymer, [HgCl(2)(C(11)H(9)N(3))](n), the Hg(II) ion is coordinated by three N atoms from two N-[(E)-pyridin-2-yl-methyl-idene]pyridin-3-amine (L) ligands and two chloride anions in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The two pyridine rings in L form a dihedral angle of 50.0?(2)°. L ligands bridge adjacent HgCl(2) units into polymeric chains propagating in [010]. The crystal packing is further stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds and ?-? inter-actions between the pyridine rings, with a centroid-centroid separation of 3.529?(9)?Å.

Project description:In the title compound, [HgCl(2)(C(18)H(16)N(2)O(2))](n), the Hg(II) atom is four-coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral environment defined by two Cl atoms and two N atoms from two 1,4-bis-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-oxy)benzene ligands. The ligand shows a non-coplanar conformation, in which the dihedral angles between the two terminal pyridine rings and the linking benzene ring are 7.275?(17) and 74.020?(14)°. The flexible ligands link the Hg(II) atoms into a chain running along [010], with an Hg?Hg separation of 10.335?(5)?Å, which is equal to the b axis. The chains are connected by C-H?O and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the asymmetric unit of the title polymeric complex, {[CuI(C(11)H(9)N(3))]·0.5CH(3)CN}(n), there are two Cu(I) atoms, two N-[(pyridin-2-yl-?N)methyl-idene]pyridin-3-amine (PyPy) ligands and two I atoms. Both Cu(I) atoms have a distorted tetra-hedral geometry, each being coordinated by one I atom, two N atoms of one PyPy ligand and one N atom from an adjacent PyPy ligand. In the crystal, infinite helical chains of [Cu(2)(PyPy)(2)](n) are formed propagating along the b axis. These chains are linked via weak C-H?I hydrogen bonds and ?-? stacking inter-actions [shortest centroid-centroid distance = 3.2727?(14)?Å]. During the refinement, electron-density peaks were located that were believed to be highly disordered solvent mol-ecules (possibly acetonitrile). The SQUEEZE option in PLATON [Spek (2009 ?). Acta Cryst. D65, 148-155] indicated there were solvent cavities with a total volume of 196?Å(3) containing approximately 60 electrons per unit cell, which equated to one mol-ecule of acetonitrile per asymmetric unit.

The other Hg(II) ion is coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry by four Cl? ions. Bridging chloride ions link the Hg(II) ions into a chain propagating in [010]: the Hg-Cl bridging bonds are significantly longer than the terminal bonds. The dihedral angle between the central benzene rings of the ligand is 83.3?(2)°. The packing is consolidated by weak C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds and C-H?? inter-actions.

The anion connects three Ag(I) atoms through its O and two N-donor atoms. One neutral ligand functions in a monodentate mode; the other functions in a bridging mode, binding though its two N atoms. The coordination geometry of the two independent metal atoms is T-shaped; the manner of bridging gives rise to a layer motif parallel to (100). In the crystal, the nitrate ion is disordered over two positions in a 1:1 ratio, and is sandwiched between adjacent layers. O-H?O hydrogen bonding is present between nitrate ions and layers, and also between adjacent layers.

Project description:In the title salt co-crystal, [Ag(C(6)H(5)N(2)O)(C(6)H(6)N(2)O)]ClO(4)·[Ag(C(6)H(6)N(2)O)(2)], the asymmetric unit comprises a [Ag(LH)(2)](+) cation, a perchlorate anion and a neutral (LH)AgL mol-ecule, where LH is pyridine-2-carboxaldoxime. Both silver-containing species feature N,N'-chelating LH and L ligands, which define an N(4) donor set that is highly distorted [dihedral angles between AgC(2)N(2) chelate rings = 45.7?(3) and 44.3?(2)°, respectively] owing, in part, to the close approach of a neighbouring Ag atom, leading to an argentophilic inter-action [Ag?Ag = 3.1868?(11)?Å]. The mol-ecular conformations are stabilized by intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds. In the crystal, O-H?O inter-actions lead to supra-molecular chains along [010]. Chains aggregate into layers in the ab plane, defining channels along [100] in which reside the perchlorate anions; the latter are disordered over two overlapped orientations in a 50:50 ratio.

Project description:The title Schiff base compound, C25H20N2, crystallizes with two independent mol-ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit. In both mol-ecules, the imine group is approximately coplanar with the pyridine ring, with N-C-C-N torsion angles of 170.1?(3) and -172.0?(3)?Å. In the crystal, A and B dimers are linked by pairs of C-H?? inter-actions and further C-H?? bonds link the dimers into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The Pb(II) atom in the polymeric title compound, {[Pb(C(13)H(11)N(4)O)]ClO(4)}(n), is coordinated by the N'-[1-(pyridin-2-yl-?N)ethyl-idene]isonicotinohydrazidate ligand via its O,N,N'-donors and simultaneously bridged by a neighbouring ligand via the pyridin-2-yl N atom. The resultant supra-molecular chain is a zigzag along the a axis. The stereochemistry of the Pb(II) atom is defined by an N(3)OE donor set (E = lone pair of electrons), which results in a ?-trigonal-bipyramidal coordination with the O and pyridin-2-yl N atoms in axial positions. The dihedral angle between the pyridine rings of the ligand is 6.3?(3)°. The supra-molecular cationic chains are linked into a three-dimensional array via secondary Pb?O [3.133?(6) and 3.28?(7)?Å] and Pb?N [3.028?(4)?Å] inter-actions. Weak C-H?O inter-actions and aromatic ?-? stacking [centroid-centroid separation = 3.693?(2)?Å] also occur in the crystal.
