ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(26)H(18), consists of a benzene ring with meta-substituted 1-naphthalene substituents, which are essentially planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.039 and 0.027?Å). The conformation is mixed syn/anti, with equivalent torsion angles about the benzene-naphthalene bonds of 121.46?(11) and 51.58?(14)°.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(19)H(16)O(3), contains three independent conformers. Each of the three conformers has essentially the same feature of non-coplanar aromatic rings whereby the aroyl group at the 1-position of the naphthalene ring is twisted in a perpendicular manner to the naphthalene ring. The dihedral angles between the benzene ring planes and the naphthalene ring systems are 75.34?(7), 86.47?(7) and 76.55?(6)° in the three conformers. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, C(19)H(16)O(3), the dihedral angle between the naphthalene ring system and the phenyl ring is 68.32 (5)°. The bridging carbonyl C-C(=O)-C plane makes a dihedral angle of 54.32 (5)° with the naphthalene ring system and 21.45 (6)° with the phenyl ring. An inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bond exists between the H atom of one meth-oxy group and the O atom of the second meth-oxy group in an adjacent mol-ecule. The crystal packing is additionally stabilized by a weak C-H⋯O inter-molecular inter-action between an H atom of the naphthalene ring and the O atom of the carbonyl group.

The benzene rings of the benzoyl groups make dihedral angles of 59.26?(13) and 59.09?(13)° with the naphthalene ring system. Zigzag C-H?O chains and ladder C-H?O chains between the phenoxybenzoyl groups along the ab diagonals form an undulating checkered sheet. The molecules are further connected into a three-dimensional network by C-H?? interactions.

Project description:In the title mol-ecule, C(12)H(11)N(3)O(2), the dihedral angle between the mean planes of the naphthalene and carboxamide groups is 28.9 (8)°. The hydrazine N atoms are twisted slightly out of the plane of the carboxamide group [C-C-N-N torsion angle = -175.06 (13)°]. The crystal packing is influenced by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonding which includes a bifurcated hydrogen bond between the amide N atom and nearby carboxyl and hydroxyl O atoms. A second bifurcated hydrogen bond occurs between the hydroxyl O atom and nearby amide (inter-molecular) and hydrazine (intra-molecular) N atoms. As a result, mol-ecules are linked into a co-operative hydrogen-bonded network of infinite one-dimensional O-H⋯O-H⋯O-H chains along the (101) plane of the unit cell in a zigzag pattern, the dihedral angle between the mean planes of the naphthalene groups of adjacent mol-ecules in the chain being 86.9 (2)°. A MOPAC PM3 calculation provides support to these observations.
