Catena-Poly[[[aqua-copper(II)]-bis-[?-N,N'-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)isophthalamide]-[aqua-copper(II)]-di-?-sulfato] dimethyl-formamide disolvate].

ABSTRACT: In the title coordination polymer, {[Cu(SO4)(C18H14N4O2)(H2O)]·C3H7NO} n , the Cu(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms of two briding N,N'-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)isophthalamide ligands, two O atoms of two bridging SO4(2-) anions and a water mol-ecule, giving a distorted CuN2O3 square-pyramidal geometry. The whole repeating mol-ecular unit is generated by inversion symmetry. This leads to the formation of a looped-chain one-dimensional coordination polymer propagating along [110]. The dimethyl-formamide (DMF) mol-ecules are linked to the chains via O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The chains are linked via N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming two-dimensional networks parallel to (001). There are also a number of C-H?O inter-actions present and a parallel slipped ?-? inter-action. The latter involves inversion-related pyridine rings with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.594?(2)?Å [normal distance = 3.3338?(13) and slippage = 1.341?Å]. These inter-actions lead to the formation of a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(2)(C(2)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(4)](ClO(4))(2)·2C(3)H(7)NO·H(2)O, contains doubly charged centrosymmetric dinuclear oxalato-bridged copper(II) complex cations, perchlorate anions, and DMF and water solvate mol-ecules. In the complex cation, the oxalate ligand is coordinated in a bis-bidentate bridging mode to the Cu atoms. Each Cu atom has a distorted tetra-gonal-bipyramidal environment, being coordinated by two N atoms of the two chelating bipy ligands and two O atoms of the doubly deprotonated oxalate anion. Pairs of perchlorate anions and water mol-ecules are linked into recta-ngles by O-H⋯O bonds in which the perchlorate O atoms act as acceptors and the water mol-ecules as donors. Methyl groups of the DMF solvent molecule are disordered over two sites with occupancies of 0.453 (7):0.547 (7), and the water molecule is half-occupied.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric dinuclear title complex, [Cu(2)(C(12)H(6)O(4))(2)(C(3)H(7)NO)(4)(H(2)O)(2)], the coordination environment of each Cu(II) atom displays a distorted CuO(5) square-pyramidal geometry, which is formed by two carboxyl-ate O atoms of two ?-1,8-nap ligands (1,8-nap is naphthalene-1,8-dicarboxyl-ate), two O atoms of two DMF (DMF is N,N'-dimethyl-formamide) and one coordinated water mol-ecule. The Cu-O distances involving the four O atoms in the square plane are in the range 1.9501?(11)-1.9677?(11)?Å, with the Cu atom lying nearly in the plane [deviation = 0.0726?(2)?Å]. The axial O atom occupies the peak position with a Cu-O distance of 2.885?(12)?Å, which is significantly longer than the rest of the Cu-O distances. Each 1,8-nap ligand acts as bridge, linking two Cu(II) atoms into a dinuclear structure. Inter-molecular O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions consolidate the structure.

The 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)diazene mol-ecules form polymeric chains parallel to [-101] via azo bonds which are situated about inversion centres. Since the Cu(II) atom is situated on a twofold rotation axis, the monomeric unit has point symmetry 2. The perchlorate anions are disordered in a 0.536 (9):0.464 (9) ratio and are acceptors of water H atoms in medium-strong O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds with graph set R 4 (4)(12). The water mol-ecules, which are coordinated to the Cu(II) atom and are hydrogen-bonded to the perchlorate anions, form columns parallel to [010]. A π-π inter-action [centroid-centroid distance = 3.913 (2) Å] occurs between pyridine rings, and weak C-H⋯O inter-actions also occur.

The N atoms of the two chelating symmetry-related 5-(pyridin-3-yl)pyrimidine ligands and the O atoms of the two monodentate acetate anions are nearly coplanar, with a mean deviation from the least-squares plane of 0.157?(2)?Å and the Cu(II) ion is displaced by 0.050?(3)?Å from this plane towards the apical water O atom. Bridging through the bis-monodentate 5-(pyridin-3-yl)pyrimidine ligand forms a one-dimensional coordination polymer extending parallel to [010]. In the crystal, O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a two-dimensional supra-molecular structure parallel to (100). The crystal studied was an inversion twin with a 0.57?(3):0.43?(3) domain ratio.

Project description:The title extended solid coordination compound, {[Fe(C(44)H(40)N(2)O(4)P(2))(C(3)H(7)NO)(2)](ClO(4))(2)·2C(3)H(7)NO}(n), was crystallized un-ex-pectedly from the reaction mixture containing the Trost ligand (1R,2R)-(+)-1,2-diamino-cyclo-hexane-N,N'-bis-(2'-di-phenyl-phosphinobenzo-yl) and Fe(ClO(4))(2)·6H(2)O in a 1:1 ratio in dimethyl-formamide (DMF) under reflux conditions. The polymeric complex is characterized by Fe(II) metal centers that are coordinated by two oxidized Trost ligands, each coordinated in a bidentate fashion in a square plane, along with two DMF mol-ecules above and below the plane [average Fe-O(DMF) = 2.086 (4) Å], forming an overall pseudo-octa-hedral geometry. The Trost ligand binds adjacent Fe(II) centers, each Fe(II) being bound through the O atom of one of the phosphine oxides [average Fe-O(PPh2) = 2.115 (4) Å] and the carbonyl O atom of the adjacent amide [average Fe-O(amide) = 2.192 (3) Å]. Disorder is observed in the co-solvated solvent: there are two DMF mol-ecules per Fe(II) centre, which were modeled as one DMF mol-ecule with complete occupancy and the other being modeled in two positions with equal occupancy. Disorder was also observed with one of the perchlorate anions, which was modeled in two positions with 0.75:0.25 occupancy.

In the crystal structure, the picrate anions and solvent dimethyl-formamide (DMF) mol-ecules are connected to the cation via inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. Further stabilization is provided by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. One of the DMF moleclues is disordered over two sites with refined occupancies of 0.737 (3) and 0.263 (3).
