ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [CoCl(C2H7N)(C3H10N2)2]Cl2, the Co(III) ion has a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment and is surrounded by four N atoms in the equatorial plane, with the other N and Cl atoms occupying the axial positions. The crystal packing is stabilized by N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, forming a layered arrangement parallel to (1-10).

The Co(III) atom of the complex is hexa-coordinated by five N and one Cl atoms. The five N atoms are from two chelating ethyl-enediamine and one n-pentyl-amine ligands. Neighbouring cations and anions are connected by N-H?Cl and N-H?O hydrogen bonds to each other and also to the water mol-ecule.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(II)(C2H8N2)3]Cl2, was obtained unexpectedly as the product of an attempted solvothermal synthesis of cobalt selenide from the elements in the presence of NH4Cl in ethyl-enedi-amine solvent. The three chelate rings of the distorted octa-hedral [Co(C2H8N2)3](2+) complex cation adopt twisted conformations about their C-C bonds. The spread of cis-N-Co-N bond angles [80.17?(6)-98.10?(6)°] in the title compound is considerably greater than the equivalent data for [Co(III)(C2H8N2)3]Cl3 [Takamizawa et al. (2008 ?). Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 47, 1689-1692]. In the crystal, the components are linked by numerous N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, generating a three-dimensional network in which the cationic complexes are stacked in columns along [010] and separated by columns of chloride anions.

Project description:In the title compound, [CrCl(2)(C(3)H(10)N(2))(2)]ClO(4), the Cr(III) atom is coordinated equatorially by four N atoms of two propane-1,3-diamine (tn) ligands and axially by two mutually trans Cl atoms, thus displaying a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry with no crystallographically imposed symmetry. The two six-membered chair chelate rings in the complex cation are in an anti conformation with respect to each other. The Cr-N bond lengths range from 2.0831 (18) to 2.0917 (19) Å, and the Cr-Cl bond lengths are 2.3148 (6) and 2.3135 (6) Å. The perchlorate anions have slightly distorted tetra-hedral geometries. Weak inter-molecular hydrogen bonds involving the tn ligand NH groups as donors, and chloride ligands and anion O atoms as acceptors are observed.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [Co(NO2)2(NH2CH2CH2NH2)2][Co(NO2)4(NH2CH2CH2NH2)]·H2O, was redetermined with a modern CCD-equipped diffractometer. In comparison with the original determination based on photographic data [Kushi et al. (1976 ?). Inorg. Nucl. Chem. Lett. 12, 629-633], the current study allows the location of reliable postions for the H atoms and thus leads to better understanding of the inter-ionic and inter-molecular inter-actions. The crystal structure consists of an octa-hedrally coordinated cationic Co(III) complex ion, an octa-hedrally coordinated anionic Co(III) complex ion and a lattice water mol-ecule. The complex cation, complex anion and lattice water mol-ecule are connected by an intricate network of O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional structure.
