ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Pd2{P(C10H7)2(C10H6)}2Cl2]·2CH2Cl2, shows cyclo-metalation of one naphthalen-1-yl substituent of each of the phosphane ligands to the Pd dimer in a trans orientation; the complete dimer is generated by a centre of inversion. Two dichloro-methane solvent mol-ecules create C-H?Cl inter-actions with the metal complex, generating supermolecular layers in the ab plane. Additional C-H?? and ?-? [centroid-centroid distances = 3.713?(3), 3.850?(4) and 3.926?(3)?Å] inter-actions join these planes into a three-dimensional supermolecular network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Pd(2)Cl(2)(C(20)H(26)P)(2)]·2CH(2)Cl(2), contains one half-mol-ecule of the palladium complex and a dichloro-methane solvent mol-ecule. In the complex, two Pd(II) atoms are bridged by two Cl atoms, with the other two coordination sites occupied by a C atom of the biphenyl system and a P atom, resulting in a distorted square-planar coordination geometry of the Pd(II) atom and a cyclo-metallated four-membered ring. The Pd(2)Cl(2) unit is located about an inversion center. The planes of the rings of the biphenyl system make a dihedral angle of 66.36 (11)°.

Positions 2 and 8 on the xanthene backbone are functionalized with methyl groups to allow for the selective functionalization of the backbone at positions 4 and 6 with diphenyl-phosphanyl units. The title compound shows a significant 'roof-like' bending along the axis of planarity involving the O- and S-donor atoms and the benzene rings, resulting in a dihedral angle between the mean planes of the benzene rings of 32.88?(13)°.

The two Pd-P bond lengths differ by about 0.04?Å and the biphosphane bite angle is slightly obtuse [92.92?(2)°]. There are three dichloro-methane and one water mol-ecule co-crystallized with the palladium mol-ecule, all with atoms in general positions. Alternating water and palladium mol-ecules form four-membered cyclic units through O-H?Cl and O-H?O hydrogen bonding. One of the dichloromethane solvent molecules is disordered over two positions in a 0.55:0.45 ratio.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C10H15)2]2[CoCl4]·2CH2Cl2, was isolated as a dichloromethane solvate and was formed in the reaction between lithium penta-methyl-cyclo-penta-dienide and anyhydrous cobalt(II) chloride in tetra-hydro-furan. There are two deca-methyl-cobaltocenium cations, one tetrachloridocobaltate(II) anion and two di-chloro-methane solvent mol-ecules in the formula unit. There is a slight disorder of the di-chloro-methane solvent which was treated with a two-site model [occupancy rates = 0.765?(4) and 0.235?(4)]. The di-chloro-methane mol-ecules display significant C-H?Cl inter-actions with the tetrachloridocobaltate(II) dianion. The cobalt atom of the deca-methyl-cobaltocenium cation sits on a twofold rotation axis, with only one penta-methyl-cyclo-penta-diene ligand being unique and the second generated by symmetry. The cobalt atom of the [CoCl4](-2) ion sits on a special site with -4 symmetry, with one unique chloride ligand and the others generated by the fourfold inversion axis.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Pd(2)(C(9)H(12)NTe)(2)Cl(2)]·0.5CH(2)Cl(2), contains two half-mol-ecules, each lying on a twofold rotation axis; each mol-ecule is chiral and of the same enanti-omer. This is only possible as the mol-ecule has a hinged cis arrangement about the Pd(2+) coordination spheres. For this hinged dimeric structure, the angles between the two coordination planes in each mol-ecule are 21.59?(4) and 22.10?(4)°. This hinged cis arrangement also allows the two mol-ecules to form pairs linked by secondary inter-actions between the Pd and Te atoms of an adjoining mol-ecule, leading to a tetra-meric overall structure. C-H?Cl inter-actions consolidate the crystal packing.
