Tetra-aceto-nitrile-lithium tetra-iso-thio-cyanato-borate.

ABSTRACT: The crystal structure of the title salt, [Li(CH3CN)4][B(NCS)4], is composed of discrete cations and anions. Both the Li and B atoms show a tetra-hedral coordination by four equal ligands. The aceto-nitrile and iso-thio-cyanate ligands are linear. The bond angles at the B atom are close to the ideal tetra-hedral value [108.92?(18)-109.94?(16)°], but the bond angles at the Li atom show larger deviations [106.15?(17)-113.70?(17)°].

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cd(NCS)2(CH3CN)] n , consists of one Cd(II) cation, two thio-cyanate anions and one aceto-nitrile ligand, all in general positions. The Cd(II) cation is coordinated by three N atoms of two thio-cyanate anions and one aceto-nitrile ligand, as well as three S atoms of symmetry-related thio-cyanate anions within a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment. The Cd(II) cations are linked by ?-1,3(N,S) and ?-1,1,3(S,S,N) thio-cyanate anions into layers that are located in the ab plane.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title com-pound, [Ni(NCS)2(CH3CN)2(C12H9NO)2] or Ni(NCS)2(4-benzoyl-pyridine)2(aceto-nitrile)2, the NiII ions are octa-hedrally coordinated by the N atoms of two thio-cyanate anions, two 4-benzoyl-pyridine ligands and two aceto-nitrile mol-ecules into discrete com-plexes that are located on centres of inversion. In the crystal, the discrete com-plexes are linked by centrosymmetric pairs of weak C-H?S hydrogen bonds into chains. Thermogravimetric measurements prove that, upon heating, the title com-plex loses the two aceto-nitrile ligands and transforms into a new crystalline modification of the chain com-pound [Ni(NCS)2(4-benzoyl-pyridine)2], which is different from that of the corresponding CoII, NiII and CdII coordination polymers reported in the literature. IR spectroscopic investigations indicate the presence of bridging thio-cyanate anions but the powder pattern cannot be indexed and, therefore, this structure is unknown.

Project description:In the cation of the title salt, C4H10NO(+)·C24H20B(-)·C2H3N, the C-N bond lengths are 1.2864?(16), 1.4651?(17) and 1.4686?(16)?Å, indicating double- and single-bond character, respectively. The C-O bond length of 1.2978?(15)?Å shows double-bond character, pointing towards charge delocalization within the NCO plane of the iminium ion. C-H?? inter-actions are present between the methine H atom and two of the phenyl rings of the tetra-phenyl-borate ion. The latter forms an aromatic pocket in which the cation is embedded. The iminium ion is further connected through a C-H?N hydrogen bond to the aceto-nitrile mol-ecule. This leads to the formation of a two-dimensional supramolecular pattern along the bc plane.

Project description:In the title solvated salt, C7H16NO(+)·C24H20B(-)·C2H3N, the C-N bond lengths in the cation are 1.2831?(19), 1.467?(2) and 1.465?(2)?Å, indicating double- and single-bond character, respectively. The C-O bond length of 1.2950?(18)?Å shows a double-bond character, pointing towards charge delocalization within the NCO plane of the iminium ion. The two C atoms of the n-butyl group are disordered over the two sites, with refined occupancy ratios of 0.890?(5):0.110?(5) and 0.888?(4):0.112?(4). In the crystal, C-H?? inter-actions occur between the methine H atom, H atoms of the -N(CH3)2 and -CH2 groups of the cation, and two of the phenyl rings of the tetra-phenyl-borate anion. The latter inter-action forms an aromatic pocket in which the cation is embedded. Thus, a two-dimensional pattern is created in the ac plane.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, (C5H6N)[Cr(NCS)4(C5H5N)2]·C5H5N, the CrIII ions are octa-hedrally coordinated by four N-bonding thio-cyanate anions and two pyridine ligands into discrete negatively charged complexes, with the CrIII ion, as well as the two pyridine ligands, located on crystallographic mirror planes. The mean planes of the two pyridine ligands are rotated with respect to each other by 90°. Charge balance is achieved by one protonated pyridine mol-ecule that is hydrogen bonded to one additional pyridine solvent mol-ecule, with both located on crystallographic mirror planes and again rotated by exactly 90°. The pyridinium H atom was refined as disordered between both pyridine N atoms in a 70:30 ratio, leading to a linear N-H⋯N hydrogen bond. In the crystal, discrete complexes are linked by weak C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds into chains that are connected by additional C-H⋯S hydrogen bonding via the pyridinium cations and solvent mol-ecules into layers and finally into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The new heterometallic title complex, [Co(NCS)(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(NH(3))(2)][Cr(NCS)(4)(NH(3))(2)]·2CH(3)CN, has been prepared using the open-air reaction of cobalt powder, Reineckes salt and 2,2'-bipyridine (dpy) in acetonitrile. The crystal structure consists of discrete cationic [Co(NCS)(2)(NH(3))(2)(dpy)](+) and anionic [Cr(NCS)(4)(NH(3))(2)](-) building blocks, both with 2 symmetry, and acetonitrile solvent mol-ecules, which are linked together by N-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming extended supra-molecular chains. Furthermore, N-H?S, C-H?S and C-H?N hydrogen bonds inter-link neighbouring chains into a three-dimensional framework. The Co atom is in an elongated octa-hedral coordination environment with two N atoms from the dpy ligands and two NCS-groups in the equatorial plane and with two NH(3) mol-ecules at the axial positions. The Cr(III) ion is octa-hedraly coordinated by two NH(3) mol-ecules at the axial positions and four NCS-groups in the equatorial plane. Intensity statistics indicated non-merohedral twinning with the twin matrix [100; 0[Formula: see text]0; [Formula: see text]0[Formula: see text]]. The refined ratio of the twin components is 0.530?(1):0.470?(1).

Project description:The title compound, (NH4)2[Zn(NCS)4]·2C12H24O6·H2O, the result of the reaction of ammonium thio-cyanate, 18-crown-6 and zinc(II) chloride in aqueous solution, exhibits an unusual supra-molecular structure. The Zn atom, two of the thio-cyanate chains and a water mol-ecule, disordered over two positions, lie on a mirror plane. The macrocycle adopts a conformation with approximate D 3d symmetry. The ammonium mol-ecules are contained within the bowl of the macrocycle via extensive N-H?O hydrogen bonds and the complex mol-ecules are linked via N-H?S hydrogen bonds, forming chains along the c-axis direction. The macrocycle is disordered over two positions [refined occupancy ratio = 0.666?(8):0.334?(8)]. The S atoms of two iso-thio-cyanate ligands are disordered within and about the mirror plane.
