Bis(cinnamato-?O)(1,10-phenanthroline-?(2) N,N')copper(II).

ABSTRACT: The title mononuclear Cu(II) complex, [Cu(C9H7O2)2(C12H8N2)], is comprised of a Cu(II) cation, two cinnamate (L (-)) ligands and a 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligand. The Cu(II) atom and phen ligand lie on a twofold rotation axis. The Cu(II) atom is coordinated by two O atoms from two carboxyl-ate groups of two (L (-)) ligands and two N atoms from one phen ligand, exhibiting a distorted square-planar geometry. In the crystal, mol-ecules are assembled into supra-molecular chains parallel to the c axis through weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the phen and cinnamate ligands.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(ClO(4))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)], the Cu(II) atom is coordinated in a square-planar fashion by the two N atoms of a chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and by two water mol-ecules trans to the N atoms. The coordination sphere of the metal atom is augmented by O atoms of two weakly bonded perchlorate anions, thus yielding a strongly distorted CuN(2)O(4) octa-hedral environment. The crystal packing is stabilized by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the water mol-ecules and the perchlorate anions. In addition, the organic mol-ecules are associated by π-π stacking inter-actions between symmetry-equivalent anti-parallel non-nitro-gen aromatic rings, with inter-planar distances of 3.543 (2) Å.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(CH(3)CN)(C(13)H(10)N(2))(2)](BF(4))(2), the fivefold-coordinate Cu(II) atom is located on a twofold rotation axis, imposing twofold symmetry to the complete cation. The structure exhibits disorder of the anion, which was successfully refined using a two-site model with 0.810?(3):0.190?(3) occupancy. The methyl group of the acetonitrile ligand is likewise disordered, here about the twofold rotation axis in a 1:1 ratio.

Project description:The structure of the the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(7)H(3)ClO(3))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]·2H(2)O, consists of a dimeric unit involving a planar Cu(2)O(2) group arranged around an inversion center. The coordination sphere of the Cu(II) atom can be described as an elongated distorted square pyramid where the basal plane is formed by the two N atoms of the 1,10-phenanthroline mol-ecule and the two O atoms of the hydroxy-chloro-benzoate (hcbe) anion. The long apical Cu-O distance of 2.569 (2) Å involves the O atom of a symmetry-related hcbe anion, building up the dinuclear unit. Each dinuclear unit is connected through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving two water mol-ecules, resulting in an R(4) (2)(8) graph-set motif and building up an infinite chain parallel to (10). C-H⋯O inter-actions further stabilize the chain.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(2)N(3))(2)(C(12)H(6)Cl(2)N(2))(2)], the Cu(II) atom is coordinated by two chelating 4,7-dichloro-1,10-phenanthroline (4,7-Cl-phen) ligands and two dicyanamide (dca) ligands in a cis arrangement, forming a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The equatorial plane is occupied by three N atoms from two 4,7-Cl-phen ligands and one N atom from a dca ligand at shorter Cu-N distances. Due to the Jahn-Teller effect, the axial positions are occupied by a 4,7-Cl-phen N atom and a dca N atom at longer Cu-N distances. The dca ligands are nearly planar, with a maximum deviations of 0.006 (1) Å. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, with cyanide N atoms as acceptors, and π-π inter-actions between adjacent phenyl rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.725 (3) Å].

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(C(2)HCl(2)O(2))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)], the Cu(II) ion has a distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry. The equatorial positions are occupied by two N atoms from a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand [Cu-N = 1.994 (3) and 2.027 (3) Å] and two O atoms from dichloro-acetate ligands and a water mol-ecule [Cu-O = 1.971 (2) and 1.939 (2) Å]. One O atom from another dichloro-acetate ligand occupies the apical positon [Cu-O = 2.152 (3) Å]. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into centrosymmetric dimers. The crystal packing also exhibits weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.734 (2) Å] and short inter-molecular Cl⋯Cl contacts [3.306 (2) and 3.278 (2) Å].

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex [Cu(C14H12N2)2]2[Fe(CN)5(NO)], consists of a [Cu(dmp)2](+) cation (dmp is 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline) and half an [Fe(CN)5(NO)](2-) anion. The anion is disordered across an inversion center with the Fe(II) ion slightly offset (ca 0.205Å) from the inversion center in the direction of the disordered trans-coordinating CN/NO ligands. The anion has a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The Cu(I) ion is coordinated by two phenanthroline ligands in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The dihedral angle between the phenanthroline ligands is 77.16?(4)?Å. In the crystal, the cations are connected to the anions by weak C-H?N hydrogen bonds. In addition, weak ?-? stacking inter-actions are observed, with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.512?(3)-3.859?(3)?Å.

The Cu(II) atom exhibits a six-coordinated distorted octa-hedral geometry with two N atoms from the phenanthroline ligand [Cu-N 2.007?(2)?Å] and four O atoms from two 3,4-dimethoxy-benzoate ligands [Cu-O 1.950?(1) and 2.524?(1)?Å]. The difference in Cu-O bond distances indicates a strong Jahn-Teller effect. In the crystal, C-H?? inter-actions result in chains of mol-ecules along the c axis.

The coordination geometry around the Cu(II) atom is square-pyramidal, comprising two N atoms from a symmetrically chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, one O atom from a trichloro-acetate ligand and two Cl(-) anions. In addition, there is a weak intra-molecular Cu?O inter-action of 2.9403?(14)?Å involving the carbonyl O atom of the trichloro-acetate ligand. The central Cu(2)Cl(2) core takes the form of a rhombus, owing to the disparate Cu-Cl bond lengths. Mol-ecules are connected in the crystal structure by C-H?Cl and C-H?O inter-actions.

A significant Jahn-Teller distortion is observed with two axial Cu-O distances significantly longer than those in the equatorial CuO(2)N(2) plane. In the crystal, ?-? stacking inter-actions, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.547?(3) or 3.728?(3)?Å between the phenanthroline rings, form layers parallel to (011).
