An ortho-rhom-bic polymorph of 3,4-di-amino-benzo-nitrile.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C7H7N3, is an ortho-rhom-bic polymorph that crystallizes in the space group Pca21. The previously reported monoclinic form [Geiger & Parsons (2013 ?) Acta Cryst. E69, o452] crystallizes in the space group P21/c (Z = 4). In the crystal, two independent HN-H?N C hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into chains along the a-glide plane. Two further independent HN-H?NH2 hydrogen bonds join the chains, forming a three-dimensional network.

In the two mol-ecules, the dihedral angles between the carbazole ring system and the benzene ring are 47.9?(5) and 45.4?(4)°, similar to the value of 47.89?(6)° found in the previously reported structure [Saha & Samanta (1999 ?). Acta Cryst. C55, 1299-1300]. In the crystal, there is a weak C-H?N hydrogen bond between the two independent mol-ecules.

Project description:In the title mol-ecule, C9H9NO2, the non-H atoms are essentially coplanar with a maximum deviation of 0.027?(2)?Å for the C atom of one of the methyl groups. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are arranged into centrosymmetric pairs via pairs of C-H?O and C-H?N inter-actions whereas ?-? stacking inter-actions between the benzene rings [centroid-centroid distance 3.91001?(15)?Å] organize them into polymeric strands propagating along the a-axis direction. There is a step of 0.644?(2)?Å between the two planar parts of the centrosymmetric pair. In neighboring strands related by the n-glide operation, the aromatic rings are tilted by 29.08?(2)°.

Project description:The title compound, C(12)H(19)IO(5), is the ortho-rhom-bic polymorph of a previously reported monoclinic form [Krajewski et al. (1987 ?). Bull. Pol. Acad. Sci. Chem.35, 91-102]. The dihedral angles between the six-membered ring and the two five-membered rings are 67.66?(14) and 71.79?(13)°, whereas the dihedral angle between the five-membered rings is 74.41?(12)°, indicating that all three rings are twisted from each other. The six-membered ring has a twist-boat conformation while both of the five-membered rings have envelope conformations. The crystal structure is stabilized by a network of C-H?O contacts linking the mol-ecules into a two-dimensional array parallel to the ab plane.

The spiro-joined fragments are almost orthogonal, with a dihedral angle of 86.8?(2)° between the mean planes of the pyrane ring and the dihydroindolone ring system. The atoms of the indolinone bicycle are coplanar, with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.005?Å. In the crystal, pairs of N-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into centrosymmetric dimers which are linked to the di-methyl-formamide solvent mol-ecules by further N-H?O hydrogen bonds. N-H?N hydrogen bonds link neighbouring dimers into [010] chains.

Project description:A new monoclinic polymorph of the title compound, C(8)H(12)N(4), in the space group P2(1)/n (Z = 4) is reported. The hexa-hydro-pyrimidine ring of the title compound adopts a chair conformation with a diequatorial substitution and with the CH(2)-C N groups oriented nearly parallel and in the same direction [NC-CH(2)?CH(2)-CN pseudo torsion angle = -6.27?(18)°]. In the crystal, inter-molecular C-H? N hydrogen bonds connects the mol-ecules into a chain along the b axis.

The fused-ring system is buckled owing to the ethyl-ene linkage in the central ring with the two flanking aromatic rings being twisted by 31.9?(1)°. The ring of the dimeth-oxy-phenyl substituent is twisted by 72.4?(1)° relative to the amino- and cyano-bearing aromatic ring. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by duplex amine N-H?O(meth-oxy) hydrogen bonds in a cyclic association [graph-set R(2) (2)(7)], generating a helical chain structure extending along [201].
