N-{1,2-Bis(pyridin-3-yl)-2-[(E)-(pyridin-3-yl)methyl-idene-amino]-eth-yl}nicotinamide.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C24H20N6O, the pyridin-3-yl groups on the ethyl-ene fragment are found in a trans conformation with a C(py)-C(e)-C(e)-C(py) (py = pyridine, e = ethylene) torsion angle of 179.2?(3)°. The dihedral angle between the pyridine rings is 3.5?(1)°. In the crystal, N-H?N and C-H?O=C inter-actions form a layer arrangement parallel to the bc plane. The compound displays disorder of the ethyl-ene fragment over two positions with an occupancy ratio of 0.676?(7) to 0.324?(7) that extends into the amide section of the nicotinamide moiety.

Project description:The title mononuclear zinc(II) complex, [Zn(C(10)H(15)N(3))(2)](ClO(4))(2), was obtained by the reaction of 2-acetyl-pyridine, N-methyl-ethane-1,2-diamine and zinc perchlorate in methanol. The asymmetric unit of the complex contains two independent [Zn(C(10)H(15)N(3))(2)](2+) cations and four perchlorate anions. The Zn(II) atom in each complex cation is six-coordinated by two pyridine N, two imine N and two amine N atoms from two N-methyl-N'-[1-(pyridin-2-yl)ethyl-idene]ethane-1,2-diamine Schiff base ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The pyridine rings in each of the complex cations are approximately perpendicular to each other, making dihedral angles of 88.4?(3) and 87.9?(3)°. The perchlorate anions are linked to the complex cations through N-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The asymetric unit of the title compound, [Fe(C5H5)(C17H13N2)], contains two independent mol-ecules whose conformations differ, especially in the 4-{(pyridin-4-yl)methyl-idene]amino}-phenyl unit where one is flipped by almost 180°. The cyclo-penta-dienyl rings of the ferrocene unit also exhibit different staggered conformations: in one mol-ecule the conformation is staggered by 9.43?(2)° and in the other by 24.46?(1)° from an ideal eclipsed geometry. The plane of the benzene ring is tilted away from the ferrocene group in both mol-ecules, with dihedral angles of 6.97?(1) and 10.30?(2)°. The benzene ring is also slightly twisted from the plane of the pyridine ring, with dihedral angles of 5.98?(2) and 6.51?(2)° in the two mol-ecules.

The distorted octa-hedral trans-N(2)S(4) donor set for the Cd(2+) ion is defined by two symmetrically S,S'-chelating dithio-carbamate anions and two pyridine N atoms derived from two monodentate 4-pyridine-aldazine (or 4-{[(pyridin-4-yl-methyl-idene)hydrazinyl-idene}meth-yl]pyridine) mol-ecules [dihedral angle between the aromatic rings = 17.33 (8)°]. In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected into a supra-molecular chain via O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds involving the 4-pyridine-aldazine N atoms not involved in coordination to cadmium. Weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯N links consolidate the packing.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, {[Mn(NCSe)2(C12H10N2)(CH3OH)2]·C12H10N2} n , the Mn(II) cation is coordin-ated by two terminal N-bonded seleno-cyanate anions, two methanol mol-ecules and two 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)eth-ene (bpe) ligands within a slightly distorted octahedral geometry. The Mn(II) cations are linked into chains along the c-axis direction by the bpe ligands, which are further connected by inter-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bonding between the methanol H atoms and additional bpe mol-ecules that are not coordinated to the metal atoms. The Mn(II) cation and both crystallographically independent bpe ligands are located on centers of inversion, whereas the seleno-cyanate and methanol ligands occupy general positions.

The angle between the mean planes of the coordinating moieties of the two symmetry-related tridentate ligands is 83.3 (2)°. In the crystal, complex mol-ecules are linked by weak C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, π-π inter-actions between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.775 (9) Å] and C-H⋯π inter-actions. The hydrogen-bonding inter-actions lead to the formation of layers parallel to (010); π-π inter-actions link these layers into a three-dimensional network.

Two carbene C atoms of the N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands are bonded tightly forming a slightly bent [Ag(NHC)(2)](+) cation [C-Ag-C angle = 162.80?(18)°]. Three of these complex cations are further aggregated by one bridging chloride anion, which is lying on a threefold rotoinversion axis and is only loosely binding to the Ag(+) ions. The N atom of the amine group is not engaged in any coordinative bond.
