ABSTRACT: The title complex salt, (C8H20N)[ZnCl3(C3H7NO)], contains one [Et4N](+) cation (Et is ethyl) and one [ZnCl3(DMF)](-) anion (DMF is di-methyl-formamide). In the anion, the zinc atom is tetra-hedrally coordinated by a DMF ligand via the O atom and by three terminal Cl atoms. The average Zn-Cl bond length and Cl-Zn-Cl angle are 2.243?(11)?Å and 114?(3)°, respectively.

Project description:The Sn(IV) atom in the title compound, [(CH(3))(4)N][Sn(C(2)O(4))Cl(3)(H(2)O)]·H(2)O, obtained from the reaction between SnCl(4) and [(CH(3))(4)N](2)C(2)O(4)·2H(2)O, is six-coordinated by three Cl atoms, an O atom of a water mol-ecule and two O atoms from an asymmetrically chelating oxalate anion. The environment around the Sn(IV) atom is distorted octa-hedral. The anions are connected by the lattice water mol-ecule through O-H?O hydrogen bonds, leading to a layered structure parallel to (010). The cations are located between these layers and besides Coulombic forces are connected to the anionic layers through weak C-H?O and C-H?Cl inter-actions.

Project description:The synthesis and crystal structure for the title compound, [YNaMn4(C7H4NO3)4(C5H9O2)4(H2O)3.76(C3H7NO)0.24]·8.04C3H7NO·0.62H2O or [Y(III)Na(OTMA)4[12-MCMn(III)N(shi)-4](H2O)3.76(DMF)0.24·8.04DMF·0.62H2O, where OTMA is tri-methyl-acetate, MC is metallacrown, shi(3-) is salicyl-hydroximate, and DMF is N,N-di-methyl-formamide, is reported. The macrocyclic metallacrown consists of an -[Mn(III)-N-O]4- ring repeat unit, and the metallacrown captures one Y(III) ion and one Na(I) ion in the central cavity on opposite faces of the metallacrown. Overall the metallacrown is domed towards the side of the Na(I) ion. Both the Y(III) and Na(I) ions are eight-coordinate, and the tri-methyl-acetate anions bridge the central Y(III) to each ring Mn(III) ion. The ring Mn(III) ions are six-coordinate with a tetra-gonally distorted octa-hedral geometry.

Project description:In the title compound, C8H20N(+)·C3H10B11N2 (-), the carborane anion cage displays nearly-perfect Cs symmetry, with the two CN groups lying on a noncrystallographic mirror plane that bis-ects the cage. In the crystal, the anions form extended chains along the a-axis direction, with C-H?N hydrogen bonds linking consecutive anions. The C N bond lengths (and B-C N angles) in the nitrile moities are 1.1201?(19)?Å, 178.60?(15)° and 1.1433?(17)?Å, 179.45?(15)°, similar to those observed in organic nitriles. A hydrogen bond between a methylene H atom of the cation and the N atom in one of the nitrile groups of the anion is the closest contact between the anion and cation, at 2.52?Å.

Crystal structure of tetra-ethyl-ammonium chloride 3,4,5,6-tetra-fluoro-1,2-di-iodo-benzene.

Project description:Equimolar qu-anti-ties of tetra-ethyl-ammonium chloride (Et4NCl) and 3,4,5,6-tetra-fluoro-1,2-di-iodo-benzene (o-DITFB or o-C6F4I2) have been co-crystallized in a solution of di-chloro-methane yielding a pure halogen-bonded compound, 3,4,5,6-tetra-fluoro-1,2-di-iodo-benzene-tetra-ethyl ammonium chloride (2/1), Et4N(+)·Cl(-)·2C6F4I2, in the form of translucent needles. [(Et4NCl)(o-C6F4I2)2] packs in the C2/c space group. The asymmetric unit includes one mol-ecule of DITFB, one Et4N(+) cation located on a twofold rotation axis, and one chloride anion also located on a twofold rotation symmetry axis. This compound has an inter-esting halogen-bonding environment surrounding the halide. Here, the chloride anion acts as a tetra-dentate halogen bond acceptor and forms a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, with I?Cl(-)?I angles of 80.891?(6) and 78.811?(11)°, where two crystallographically distinct iodine atoms form halogen bonds with the chloride anion. Resulting from that square-pyramidal geometry are short contacts between some of the adjacent F atoms. Along the b axis, the halogen-bonding inter-action results in a polymeric network, producing a sheet in which the two closest chloride ions are 7.8931?(6)?Å apart. The Et4N(+) cation alternates in columns with the halide ion. The expected short contacts (shorter than the sum of their van der Waals radii) are observed for the halogen bonds [3.2191?(2) and 3.2968?(2)?Å], as well as almost linear angles [170.953?(6) and 173.529?(6)°].

Project description:The title compound, (C8H20N)[Fe(C44H28N4)(CN)2]·CH2Cl2 or (Et4N)[Fe(TPP)(CN)2], was recrystallized from di-chloro-methane-diethyl ether. The compound crystallizes with the two unique halves of the Fe(III) porphyrinato complex, one tetra-ethyl-ammonium cation and one inter-stitial di-chloro-methane mol-ecule within the asymmetric unit. Both anionic Fe(III) complexes exhibit inversion symmetry. Both the cation and the solvent mol-ecules show positional disorder. The cation is disordered over two sets of sites with an occupancy ratio of 0.710?(3):0.290?(3); the solvent mol-ecule is disordered over three positions with a 0.584?(6):0.208?(3):0.202?(5) ratio. The crystal packing features columns of [Fe(TPP)(CN)2](-) anions that propagate along [001]. The columns further pack into layers that are parallel to (011) and also include the Et4N(+) cations. The inter-stitial CH2Cl2 mol-ecules appear in the inter-layer space. This complex may serve as a useful precursor for the assembly of multinuclear and extended CN-bridged complexes for the design of single-mol-ecule and single-chain magnets, respectively.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C3H7NO)(H2O)5]SO4·C3H7NO, contains five aqua ligands, a Co(II) atom, a sulfate ion and both a coordinating and a non-coordinating di-methyl-formamide (DMF) mol-ecule. The DMF solvent mol-ecule lies between the complex units, which are located along the b axis. The sulfate ion is for charge balance. The Co(II) atom has distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry, being ligated by five aqua ligands and the O atom of the DMF ligand. O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the aqua ligands and the sulfate anion and non-coordinating DMF molecule lead to the formation of a three-dimensional network. Since all constituents lie on a mirror plane, the H atoms of all methyl groups and of one of the aqua ligands are equally disordered over two positions.

Project description:In the title salt, [(CH3)2NH2][Cu(HSO4)(SO4)(H2O)4], one type of cation and anion is present in the asymmetric unit. The Cu(II) atom in the complex anion, [Cu(HSO4)(SO4)(H2O)4](-), has a tetra-gonal bipyramidal [4 + 2] coordination caused by a Jahn-Teller distortion, with the aqua ligands in equatorial and two O atoms of tetra-hedral HSO4 and SO4 units in apical positions. Both types of ions form sheets parallel to (010). The inter-connection within and between the sheets is reinforced by O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds, respectively, involving the water mol-ecules, the two types of sulfate anions and the ammonium groups.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, 2C15H16N6O3·C3H7NO·H2O, contains two independent ethyl 6-methyl-2-oxo-4-[4-(1H-tetra-zol-5-yl)phen-yl]-1,2,3,4-tetra-hydro-pyrim-id-ine-5-carboxyl-ate mol-ecules, in which the dihedral angles between the tetra-zole and benzene rings are 20.54?(12) and 12.13?(12)°. An intra-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bond occurs in each mol-ecule. In the crystal, N-H?O, N-H?N, O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds, as well as weak C-H?O and C-H?N hydrogen bonds, link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture. ?-? stacking is also observed between parallel tetra-zole rings of adjacent mol-ecules, the centroid-centroid distance being 3.482?(6)?Å.

Project description:The title compound, (C(4)H(12)N)(3)[CuMo(2)S(8)]·C(3)H(7)NO, was obtained from the self-assembly of tetra-thio-molybdate, tetra-methyl-ammonium nitrate and cuprous sulfide in dimethyl-formamide (DMF). The asymmetric unit contains three (NMe(4))(+) cations, one [Mo(2)S(8)Cu](3-) anion and one DMF solvent mol-ecule, and no obvious inter-actions are observed between these species. The trinuclear anion can be viewed as fused [MoS(4)Cu](-) units sharing a copper center. The geometric parameters of the trivalent anion are comparable to those reported for other related salts including isomorphous anions, namely (NEt(4))(2)(PPh(4))[Mo(2)S(8)Cu] (a) and (Ph(3)P=N=PPh(3))(2)(NEt(4))[W(2)S(8)Cu]·2CH(3)CN (b). However, the Mo-Cu-Mo angle is found to be 160.24 (3)° for the title salt, while this angle is 162.97 (2)° in (a) and the W-Cu-W angle is 170.3 (2)° in (b), indicating that the largest deviation from linearity is in the title compound.
