ABSTRACT: The complete binuclear molecule of the title compound, [Cd2I4(C14H12N2O2)2], is generated by the application of a centre of inversion. The Cd-I bond lengths of the central core are close and uniformly longer than the exocyclic Cd-I bond. The coordination sphere of the Cd(II) atom is completed by two N atoms of a chelating methyl 4-[(pyridin-2-yl-methyl-idene)amino]-benzoate ligand, and is based on a square pyramid with the terminal I atom in the apical position. The three-dimensional crystal packing is stabilized by C-H?O and C-H?? inter-actions, each involving the pyridine ring.

Project description:The title compounds, [CdBr2(C12H10N4O)]·CH3OH, (I), and [CdI2(C12H10N4O)], (II), are cadmium bromide and cadmium iodide complexes of the ligand (E)-N'-(pyridin-2-yl-methyl-ene)picolinohydrazide. Complex (I) crystallizes as the methanol monosolvate. In both compounds, the Cd2+ cation is ligated by one O atom and two N atoms of the tridentate ligand, and by two bromide anions forming a Br2N2O penta-coordination sphere for (I), and by two iodide anions forming an I2N2O penta-coordination sphere for (II), both with a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. In the crystal of complex (I), mol-ecules are linked by pairs of N-H⋯O and O-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds, involving the solvent mol-ecule, forming dimeric units, which are linked by C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds forming layers parallel to (101). In the crystal of complex (II), mol-ecules are linked by N-H⋯I hydrogen bonds, forming chains propagating along [010]. In complex (II), measured at room temperature, the two iodide anions are each disordered over two sites; the refined occupancy ratio is 0.75 (2):0.25 (2).

Project description:The title compound, [Cd2Cl4(C18H14N4O)2], was obtained from the reaction of Cd(NO3)2·4H2O with 2-phenyl-pyridine-keton picolinoyl hydrazone and sodium chloride. Each Cd(2+) cation is coordinated by two N atoms and one O atom of the tridentate ligand and three chloride anions, forming a distorted CdNOCl3 octahedron. Each pair of adjacent metal cations is linked by two bridging chloride ligands, resulting in a dinuclear complex unit. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by intra-molecular N-H?N and C-H?O hydrogen bonds. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by nonclassical C-H?O and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network. In addition, ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.777?(2) and 3.631?(2)?Å] contribute to the stabilization of the crystal packing.

Project description:The title mol-ecular salts, (C18H23N2)2[CdI4], (I), and C18H23N2 +·C7H7O4S-·H2O, (II), are stilbazole, or 4-styryl-pyridine, derivatives. The cation, (E)-4-[4-(di-ethyl-amino)-styr-yl]-1-methyl-pyridin-1-ium, has a methyl group attached to pyridine ring and a diethyl amine group attached to the benzene ring. The asymmetric unit of salt (I), comprises one cationic mol-ecule and half a CdI4 dianion. The Cd atom is situated on a twofold rotation axis and has a slightly distorted tetra-hedral coordination sphere. In (II), the anion consists of a 4-meth-oxy-benzene-sulfonate and it crystallizes as a monohydrate. In both salts, the cations adopt an E configuration with respect to the C=C bond and the pyridine and benzene rings are inclined to each other by 10.7 (4)° in (I) and 4.6 (2)° in (II). In the crystals of both salts, the packing is consolidated by offset π-π stacking inter-actions involving the pyridinium and benzene rings, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.627 (4) Å in (I) and 3.614 (3) Å in (II). In the crystal of (II), a pair of 4-meth-oxy-benzene-sulfonate anions are bridged by Owater-H⋯Osulfonate hydrogen bonds, forming loops with an R 2 4(8) motif. These four-membered units are then linked to the cations by a number of C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming slabs lying parallel to the ab plane.

Project description:There are two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title mol-ecule, C8H9N3S2, both of which exhibit an E conformation with the pyridine ring and di-thio-carbazate fragment located on opposite sides of the C=N bond. The pyridine ring and di-thio-carbazate group are approximately coplanar, with dihedral angles of 4.74?(1) and 8.77?(1)° between their planes in the two mol-ecules. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked to each other via N-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming zigzag chains parallel to [10-1].

The Cu(I) atom shows a distorted tetra-hedral geometry, with bite angles ranging from 98.61 (2) to 120.16 (3)°. The intra-molecular Cu⋯Cu distance is 2.8228 (12) Å. The thio-semicarbazone ligand is coordinated only through the S atom. In the crystal, the complex mol-ecules are linked via inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, resulting in a hydrogen-bonded chain along the b axis.

Project description:The asymetric unit of the title compound, [Fe(C5H5)(C17H13N2)], contains two independent mol-ecules whose conformations differ, especially in the 4-{(pyridin-4-yl)methyl-idene]amino}-phenyl unit where one is flipped by almost 180°. The cyclo-penta-dienyl rings of the ferrocene unit also exhibit different staggered conformations: in one mol-ecule the conformation is staggered by 9.43?(2)° and in the other by 24.46?(1)° from an ideal eclipsed geometry. The plane of the benzene ring is tilted away from the ferrocene group in both mol-ecules, with dihedral angles of 6.97?(1) and 10.30?(2)°. The benzene ring is also slightly twisted from the plane of the pyridine ring, with dihedral angles of 5.98?(2) and 6.51?(2)° in the two mol-ecules.

Project description:A tetra-nuclear ZnII complex, [Zn4(C13H11N6O)2Cl6(H2O)2] or {[Zn2(HL)(H2O)(Cl2)](μCl)2[Zn2(HL)(H2O)(Cl)]}2, was synthesized by mixing an equimolar amount of a methanol solution containing ZnCl2 and a methanol solution containing the ligand H2 L [1,5-bis-(pyridin-2-yl-methyl-ene)carbono-hydrazide]. In the tetra-nuclear complex, each of the two ligand mol-ecules forms a dinuclear unit that is connected to another dinuclear unit by two bridging chloride anions. In each dinuclear unit, one ZnII cation is penta-coordinated in a N2OCl2 in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, while the other ZnII cation is hexa-coordinated in a N3OCl2 environment with a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The basal plane around the penta-coordinated ZnII cation is formed by one chloride anion, one oxygen atom, one imino nitro-gen atom and one pyridine nitro-gen atom with the apical position occupied by a chloride anion. The basal plane of the hexa-coordinated ZnII cation is formed by one chloride anion, one hydrazinyl nitro-gen atom, one imino nitro-gen atom and one pyridine nitro-gen atom with the apical positions occupied by a water oxygen atom and a bridged chloro anion from another dinuclear unit, leading to a tetra-nuclear complex. A series of intra-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds is observed in each tetra-nuclear unit. In the crystal, the tetra-nuclear units are connected by inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl, C-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a planar two-dimensional structure in the ac plane.

In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected into a supra-molecular chain via O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds involving the 4-pyridine-aldazine N atoms not involved in coordination to cadmium. Weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯N links consolidate the packing.
