1-(4-Methyl-phenyl-sulfon-yl)-2-{[3-methyl-4-(2,2,2-tri-fluoro-eth-oxy)pyridin-2-yl]methyl-sulfan-yl}-1H-1,3-benzimidazole.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C23H20F3N3O3S2, the benzo-imidazole unit makes dihedral angles of 5.02?(1) and 76.42?(1)°, respectively, with the pyridine and methyl-benzene rings; the dihedral angle between the pyridine and methyl-benzene rings is 72.19?(1)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected by weak C-H?F, C-H?O and C-H?N hydrogen bonds. Weak C-H?? inter-actions and ?-? stacking [centroid-centroid distance = 3.6485?(14)?Å] are also observed. The overall packing shows a three-dimensional architecture. The crystal structure contains a void of 51?Å(3), but no solvent mol-ecule (hexane or ethyl acetate) is located within it.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(16)H(14)F(3)N(3)OS·H(2)O, contains two independent mol-ecules (A and B) and two water mol-ecules, one of which is disordered over two positions in a 0.790?(8):0.210?(8) ratio. The mol-ecular conformations are close, the benzimidazole mean plane and pyridine ring forming dihedral angles of 1.8?(3) and 0.1?(2)° in mol-ecules A and B, respectively. The water mol-ecules are involved in formation of two independent hydrogen-bonded chains via N-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds. Chains propagating along the a axis are formed by mol-ecule A and one independent water mol-ecule, while chains propagating along the b axis are formed by mol-ecule B and the other independent water mol-ecule. The crystal packing exhibits ?-? inter-actions, as indicated by short distances of 3.607?(3) and 3.701?(3)?Å between the centroids of the imidazole and pyridine rings of neighbouring mol-ecules.

Project description:The title compound, C(16)H(14)F(3)N(3)OS·H(2)O, which had been previously characterized in the space group P-1 [Ren et al. (2011 ?). Acta Cryst. E67, o270], has now been crystallized from 1-propanol in the monoclinic form in the space group P2(1)/c. While the triclinic form is a Z' = 2 crystal, the new monoclinic polymorph includes one main mol-ecule and one water lattice mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. In the crystal, the water mol-ecule is sandwiched between neighboring main mol-ecules and behaves as both donor and acceptor in O-H?N and N-H?O hydrogen bonds with the imidazole N atoms. This pattern of chains parallel to [100] further inter-acts via O-H?N(pyridine) contacts.

Project description:The conformations of the N-H and C=O bonds in the SO(2)-NH-CO-C group of the title compound (N4BPSTMAA), C(11)H(14)BrNO(3)S, are trans to each other, similar to what is observed in N-(4-chloro-phenyl-sulfon-yl)-2,2,2-trimethyl-acet-amide (N4CPSTMAA) and 2,2,2-trimethyl-N-(4-methyl-phenyl--sulfon-yl)acetamide (N4MPSTMAA). The bond para-meters in N4BPSTMAA are similar to those in N4CPSTMAA, N4MPSTMAA, N-aryl-2,2,2-trimethyl-acet-amides and 4-bromo-benzene-sulfonamide. The benzene ring and the SO(2)-NH-CO-C group in N4BPSTMAA form a dihedral angle of 82.8?(1)°, comparable with the values of 82.2?(1)° in N4CPSTMAA and 71.2?(1)° in N4MPSTMAA. N-H?O hydrogen bonds form a centrosymmetric ring characterized by an R(2) (2)(8) motif.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound (N4CPSTMAA), C(11)H(14)ClNO(3)S, the conformations of the N-H and C=O bonds in the amide group are anti to each other, similar to those observed in N-phenyl-sulfonyl-2,2,2-trimethyl-acetamide (NPSTMAA) and 2,2,2-trimethyl-N-(4-methyl-phenyl-sulfon-yl)acetamide (N4MPSTMAA). The bond parameters in N4CPSTMAA are similar to those in NPSTMAA, N4MPSTMAA, N-aryl-2,2,2-trimethyl-acetamides and 4-chloro-benzene-sulfonamide. The -SNHCOC- unit including the amide group is essentially planar and makes a dihedral angle of 82.2?(1)° with the benzene ring, comparable to the values of 79.1?(1) and 71.2?(1)° in NPSTMAA and N4MPSTMAA, respectively. The mol-ecules in N4CPSTMAA are linked into a chain by inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds.

The three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture of the crystal is sustained by numerous N-H⋯O, N-H⋯S and C-H⋯O inter-actions.
