The endogenous cannabinoids 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG) and anandamide (AEA) play vital roles during nervous system development. The degradation of 2-AG and AEA is mediated by monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL) and fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH), respectively.
