2,2,6,6-Tetra-bromo-3,4,4,5-tetra-meth-oxy-cyclo-hexa-none.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C10H14Br4O5, synthesized from the meth-oxy Schiff base N-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-yl)meth-oxy-aniline and mol-ecular bromine, the cyclo-hexa-none ring has a chair conformation with one of the four meth-oxy groups equatorially orientated with respect to the carbonyl group and the others axially orientated. The C-Br bond lengthsvary from 1.942?(4) to1.964?(4)?Å. In the crystal, weak C-H?Ocarbon-yl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions generate chains extending along the b-axis direction. Also present in the structure are two short inter-molecular Br?Ometh-oxy inter-actions [3.020?(3) and 3.073?(4)?Å].

The remaining [(4-tert-butyl-anilino)(phen-yl)meth-yl] portion of the mol-ecule is in an equatorial position on the cyclo-hexa-none ring. Project description:The title compound, [-Si(C(12)H(9))(2)OSi(CH(3))(2)O-](2), was obtained unintentionally as the product of an attempted crystallization of caesium bis-(biphenyl-2,2'-di-yl)fluoro-silicate from dimethyl-formamide. In the crystal, the mol-ecule is located on an inversion center and the siloxane ring adopts a twist-chair conformation with the two dimethyl-substituted Si atoms lying 0.7081 (5) Å out of the plane defined by the two bis-(biphenyl-2-yl)-substituted Si atoms and the four O atoms. In each Si(C(12)H(9))(2) unit, the orientation of one terminal phenyl ring relative to the phenyl-ene ring of the other biphenyl moiety suggests a parallel displaced π-π stacking inter-action [centroid distance = 4.2377 (11) Å and dihedral angle = 15.40 (9)°].
