Crystal structures of 1-(4-chloro-phen-yl)-2-(di-phenyl-phosphor-yl)ethan-1-one and 1-(di-phenyl-phosphor-yl)-3,3-di-methyl-butan-2-one.

ABSTRACT: The title compounds, C20H16ClO2P, (I), and C18H21O2P, (II), were synthesized via an Arbuzov reaction between an ?-bromo-ketone and isopropoxydi-phenyl-phosphane. In the crystals of both compounds, mol-ecules are linked via bifurcated C-H?(O,O) hydrogen bonds, forming chains propagating along [100] for (I) and along [010] for (II). The chains are linked via C-H?? inter-actions, leading to the formation of sheets lying parallel to (010) for (I) and (001) for (II). The absolute structure of compound (II) was determined by resonant scattering [Flack parameter = 0.088?(14)].

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C21H21Cl2NO2, contains two independent mol-ecules that show similar geometrical features. The piperidine ring adopts a distorted boat conformation. The phenyl rings substituted at the 2- and 6-positions of the piperidine ring are oriented at angles of 65.4 (1) [64.7 (2)°] and 89.2 (1)° [86.3 (2)°] with respect to the least-squares plane of the piperidine ring. In the crystal, adjacent mol-ecules are linked by a network of C-H⋯O inter-actions, forming a C(6) chain along the c-axis direction.

Project description:The title compounds, C13H8ClN3O6, (I), and C13H9N3O6, (II), differ in the orientation of the two aromatic rings. In (I), they are essentially coplanar, making a dihedral angle of 8.2 (1)°, while in (II), they are inclined to one another by 76.2 (1)°. The two nitro groups are essentially coplanar with the attached benzene rings, as indicated by the dihedral angles of 1.4 (2) and 2.3 (2)° in (I), and 4.96 (18) and 5.4 (2)° in (II). The carbamate group is twisted slightly from the attached benzene ring, with a C-N-C-O torsion angle of -170.17 (15)° for (I) and 168.91 (13)° for (II). In the crystals of of both compounds, mol-ecules are linked via N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming chains propagating along [010]. In (I), C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds also link mol-ecules within the chains. The crystal packing in (I) also features a very weak π-π inter-action [centroid-centroid distance = 3.7519 (9) Å].

Project description:In the title compound, C(34)H(20)Cl(2)N(4)O(4), the two quinazoline heterocyclic systems and the adjacent chloro-benzene rings are not coplanar, but oriented at dihedral angles of 66.66 (13) and 52.48 (12)°, respectively. The quinazoline ring systems are nearly planar, with dihedral angles between the planes of the two rings of 5.43 (16) and 3.40 (14)°, and are oriented at dihedral angles of 79.73 (13) and 83.52 (13)° with respect to the adjacent benzene ring between them. Inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds contribute to the stability of the structure. In addition, weak π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-to-centroid distances = 3.872 (1) and 3.876 (1) Å] are observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:The title compound, C15H13ClO2S, comprises (4-chloro-phen-yl)sulfanyl, benzaldehyde and meth-oxy residues linked at a chiral methine-C atom (the crystal is racemic). A twist in the methine-C-C(carbon-yl) bond [O-C-C-O torsion angle = 19.3 (7)°] leads to a dihedral angle of 22.2 (5)° between the benzaldehyde and methine+meth-oxy residues. The chloro-benzene ring is folded to lie over the O atoms, with the dihedral angle between the benzene rings being 42.9 (2)°. In the crystal, the carbonyl-O atom accepts two C-H⋯O inter-actions with methyl- and methine-C-H atoms being the donors. The result is an helical supra-molecular chain aligned along the c axis; chains pack with no directional inter-actions between them. An analysis of the Hirshfeld surface points to the important contributions of weak H⋯H and C⋯C contacts to the mol-ecular packing.
