Crystal structure of catena-poly[[[tri-aqua-(4-cyano-benzoato-?O)nickel(II)]-?-4,4'-bi-pyridine-?(2) N:N'] 4-cyano-benzoate].

ABSTRACT: In the title polymeric complex salt, {[Ni(C8H4NO2)(C10H8N2)(H2O)3](C8H4NO2)} n , the Ni(II) cation is coordinated by a 4-cyano-benzoate anion, two 4,4'-bi-pyridine ligands and three water mol-ecules in a distorted N2O4 octa-hedral geometry. The 4,4'-bi-pyridine ligands bridge the Ni(II) cations to form polymeric chains of the title complex cations, propagating along the c-axis direction. The dihedral angle between the pyridine rings of the 4,4'-bi-pyridine ligand is 24.9?(6)°. In the crystal, the uncoordinating 4-cyano-benzoate anions link with the complex cations via O-H?O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture. Weak C-H?O, C-H?N inter-actions and ?-? stacking [centroid-to-centroid distances = 3.566?(4) and 3.885?(4)?Å] are also observed in the crystal.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt, [Zn(C8H4NO2)(C6H6N2O)(H2O)3](C8H4NO2), contains one complex cation and one 4-cyano-benzoate (CNB) counter-anion. The Zn(II) atom in the cation is coordinated by one 4-cyano-benzoate ligand, one nicotinamide (NA) ligand and three water mol-ecules, the CNB anion thereby coordinating in a bidentate O,O'-mode through the carboxyl-ate group. The latter, together with one water O atom and the N atom of the NA ligand, form a distorted square-planar arrangement, while the considerably distorted octa-hedral coordination sphere of the Zn(II) atom is completed by the two O atoms of additional water mol-ecules in the axial positions. The dihedral angles between the planar carboxyl-ate groups and the adjacent benzene rings in the two anions are 10.25?(10) and 5.89?(14)°. Inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds link two of the coordinating water mol-ecules to two free CNB anions. In the crystal, further hydrogen-bonding inter-actions are present, namely N-H?O, O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds that link the mol-ecular components, enclosing R 2 (2)(12), R 3 (3)(8) and R 3 (3)(9) ring motifs and forming layers parallel to (001). ?-? contacts between benzene rings [centroid-to-centroid distances = 3.791?(1) and 3.882?(1)?Å] may further stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:In the structure of the title compound, 2[Ag(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](C(7)H(6)NO(2))(NO(3))·H(2)O, the Ag(I) atom is three-coordinated in a T-shaped configuration by two N atoms from two symmetry-related 4,4'-bipyridine (bipy) ligands at short distances and by one water O atom at a longer distance. Each bipy ligand bridges two neighbouring Ag(I) atoms, forming a chain structure extending parallel to [101]. The complete 4-amino-benzoate anion, the nitrate anion and the uncoordinated water mol-ecule are located on mirror planes: together with the coordinated water mol-ecule, they form N-H?O, O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds, stabilizing the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title mononuclear complex, [Ni(C(8)H(7)O(2))(2)(C(5)H(5)N)(2)(H(2)O)], the Ni(II) atom is in a distorted octa-hedral arrangement, coordinated by three carboxylate O atoms from one bidentate 4-methyl-benzoate ligand and one monodentate 4-methyl-benzoate ligand, two N atoms from pyridine ligands, axially positioned, and a water mol-ecule. The equatorially positioned water mol-ecule and uncoordinated carb-oxylate O atom form an intra-molecular hydrogen bond. Project description:The reaction of lanthanum nitrate and 4-ethyl-benzoic acid (EBAH) in aqueous solution yielded the title polymer, [La(C(9)H(9)O(2))(3)(C(9)H(10)O(2))(H(2)O)](n). The asymmetric unit contains one La(III) atom, three 4-ethyl-benzoate (EBA) ligands, one neutral EBAH ligand and one coordinated water mol-ecule. Each La(III) ion is eight-coordinated by six O atoms from six bridging-bidentate EBA ligands, one O atom from a monodentate EBAH ligand and one water O atom in a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The adjacent La(III) ions are linked by the carboxyl-ate groups of EBA ligands in a bridging-bidetate coordination mode, resulting in an infinite chain structure along the c axis. O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving the water mol-ecules, carboxyl-ate groups and carboxyl H atoms are formed within the one-dimensional polymer. One of the ethyl groups is disordered over two positions with occupancies of 0.717 (7) and 0.283 (7).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title one-dimensional polymeric compound, {[Co(C10H11O2)2(H2O)3]·2H2O} n , contains one CoII cation situated on a centre of inversion, one-half of a coordinating water mol-ecule, one 2,4,6-tri-methyl-benzoate (TMB) anion together with one coordinating and one non-coordinating water mol-ecule; the TMB anion acts as a monodentate ligand. In the anion, the carboxyl-ate group is twisted away from the attached benzene ring by 84.9 (2)°. The CoII atom is coordinated by two TMB anions and two water mol-ecules in the basal plane, while another water mol-ecule bridges the CoII atoms in the axial directions, forming polymeric chains running along [001]. The coordination environment for the CoII cation is a slightly distorted octa-hedron. The coordinating and bridging water mol-ecules link to the carboxyl-ate groups via intra- and inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, enclosing S(6) ring motifs, while the coordinating, bridging and non-coordinating water mol-ecules link to the carboxyl-ate groups and the coordinating water mol-ecules link to the non-coordinating water mol-ecules via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, enclosing R22(8) and R33(8) ring motifs. Weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯π inter-actions may further stabilize the crystal structure.
