This study investigates how the collagen fiber structure influences the enzymatic degradation of collagen tissues. We developed a micromechanical model of a fibrous collagen tissue undergoing enzymatic degradation based on two central hypotheses. The collagen fibers are crimped in the undeformed configuration.
