Crystal structure of tri-hydrogen bis-{[1,1,1-tris-(2-oxido-ethyl-amino-meth-yl)ethane]-cobalt(III)} trinitrate.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Co2(L)2](3+)·3NO3 (-) [where L = CH3C(CH2NHCH2CH2OH1/2)3], has been synthesized from the ligand 1,1,1-tris-(2-hy-droxy-ethyl-amino-meth-yl)ethane. The cobalt(III) dimer has an inter-esting and uncommon O-H?O hydrogen-bonding motif with the three bridging hy-droxy H atoms each being equally disordered over two positions. In the dimeric trication, the octa-hedrally coordinated Co(III) atoms and the capping C atoms lie on a threefold rotation axis. The N atoms of two crystallographically independent nitrate anions also lie on threefold rotation axes. N-H?O hydrogen bonding between the complex cations and nitrate anions leads to the formation of a three-dimensional network structure. The compound is a racemic conglomerate of crystals containing either d or l mol-ecules. The crystal used for this study is a d crystal.

Its structures with gallium and indium are reported as solvates, namely, ({[(2,2-bis-{[(2-oxido-benzyl-idene)amino-?2 N,O]meth-yl}prop-yl)imino]-meth-yl}phenololato-?2 N,O)gallium(III) pyridine monosolvate, [Ga(C26H24N3O3)]·C5H5N, the aceto-nitrile 0.75-solvate, [Ga(C26H24N3O3)]·0.75C2H3N, and ({[(2,2-bis-{[(2-oxido-benzyl-idene)amino-?2 N,O]meth-yl}prop-yl)imino]-meth-yl}phenololato-?2 N,O)indium(III) di-chloro-methane monosolvate, [In(C26H24N3O3)]·CH2Cl2. All three metal complexes are pseudo-octa-hedral and each structure contains multiple weak C-H?O and/or C-H?N inter-molecular hydrogen-bonding inter-actions. The syntheses and additional characterization in the forms of melting points, high-resolution mass spectra, infra-red (IR) spectra, and 1H and 13C NMR spectra are also reported.

Project description:The title compound, (C(2)H(10)N(2))(3)(C(2)H(9)N(2))(2)[Mo(5)(HPO(4))(2)O(15)]·10H(2)O, was prepared under hydro-thermal conditions at pH 5.0. The structure contains mono- and diprotonated ethyl-enediamine cations, [Mo(5)O(15)(HPO(4))(2)](4-) anions and uncoord-in-ated water mol-ecules. The [Mo(5)O(15)(HPO(4))(2)](4-) hetero-poly-oxometallate anion is made up of five MoO(6) octa-hedra sharing an edge and forming a ring, which is closed by common corners of the terminal MoO(6) octa-hedron. The ring is topped on both sides by two slightly distorted PO(4) tetra-hedra, sharing three corners with three MoO(6) octa-hedra. The terminal oxygen atoms of the PO(4) units are protonated. Together with the anions, the water mol-ecules and the ethyl-enediammonium cations are involved in N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonding, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Co(C(9)H(8)Cl(2)NO)(3)], contains three independent mol-ecules. In each mol-ecule, the Co(III) ion is coordinated by an O atom and an N atom from three bidentate 2,4-dichloro-6-(ethyl-imino-meth-yl)phenolate ligands in a slightly distorted octa-hedral environment. Tris(ethyl-enediamine)cobalt(II) sulfate.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [Co(II)(C(2)H(8)N(2))(3)]SO(4), the cobalt example of [M(C(2)H(8)N(2))(3)]SO(4), is reported. The Co and S atoms are located at the 2d and 2c Wyckoff sites (point symmetry 32), respectively. The Co atom is coordinated by six N atoms of three chelating ethyl-enediamine mol-ecules generated from half of the ethyl-enediamine mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. The O atoms of the sulfate anion are disordered mostly over two crystallographic sites. The third disorder site of O (site symmetry 3) has a site occupancy approaching zero. The H atoms of the ethyl-enediamine mol-ecules inter-act with the sulfate anions via inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(II)(C2H8N2)3]Cl2, was obtained unexpectedly as the product of an attempted solvothermal synthesis of cobalt selenide from the elements in the presence of NH4Cl in ethyl-enedi-amine solvent. The three chelate rings of the distorted octa-hedral [Co(C2H8N2)3](2+) complex cation adopt twisted conformations about their C-C bonds. The spread of cis-N-Co-N bond angles [80.17 (6)-98.10 (6)°] in the title compound is considerably greater than the equivalent data for [Co(III)(C2H8N2)3]Cl3 [Takamizawa et al. (2008 ▶). Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 47, 1689-1692]. In the crystal, the components are linked by numerous N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, generating a three-dimensional network in which the cationic complexes are stacked in columns along [010] and separated by columns of chloride anions.
