Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) has emerged as a highly effective treatment for <i>Clostridium difficile</i> infection (CDI), the most frequent cause of hospital-acquired infectious diarrhea in developed countries and the cause of nearly 30,000 annual deaths in the US.
