ABSTRACT: Autoimmune regulator (AIRE) regulates promiscuous expression of tissue-restricted antigens in medullary epithelial cells (mTEC) of the thymus. To understand the diverse effects of AIRE, it is crucial to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying the process of AIRE-regulated gene expression.
