Delayed Repercussions of Blunt Trauma: Isolated Muscular Ventricular Septal Defect.

ABSTRACT: Highlights•Large isolated ventricular septal defect resulting from blunt trauma can be associated with high morbidity and mortality.•High index of suspicion and rapid diagnosis with echocardiography are needed for proper management of isolated ventricular septal defect following blunt trauma.•Surgical patch repair or percutaneous VSD closure, when appropriate, are the mainstay of interventions to avoid late morbidity and mortality associated with large unrepaired VSD.
