German Colon Capsule Registry

ABSTRACT: Aim of the registry is to evaluate all colon capsule endoscopies performed in Germany. This is to investigate safety, quality assurance and quality control of colon capsule endoscopy.

PillCam Colon Capsule 2 (PCC2) in the Setting of Colorectal Cancer Screening Program

Project description:In this study the investigators evaluate the sensitivity of PCC2 (PillCam Colon Capsule 2 (R)) in identifying significant polyps in a CRC (Colo Recatal Cancer) screening program (primary outcome measure). Each enrolled patient underwent three procedures: colon capsule endoscopy, CT-colonography and optical colonoscopy. In this study the reference standard is represented by the segmental unblinded colonoscopy (the unblinding is based on results of both capsule endoscopy and Ct colonography) The investigators also evaluated the tolerability of PCC2 as compared to optical colonoscopy (OC) and CT-colonography (CTC).

Project description:This study is designed to determine the optimal bowel preparation regimen for PillCam COLON 2 Capsule Endoscopy System (CCE) procedures in average risk patients. Patients will be randomized to receive one of two bowel preparation regimens prior to PillCam CCE.

Colon Capsule Endoscopy as an Alternative to CT-colonography in Colorectal Cancer Screening

Project description:Interventions: Colon Capsule Endoscopy Primary outcome(s): To evaluate the applicability of CCE in colorectal cancer screening in terms of: diagnostic yield, participation rate, patients’ expected and perceived burden of CCE, the workability of CCE for the staff and the interobserver variability in reviewing the CCE images. Interested patients who meet all inclusion- and exclusion criteria will get an appointment to undergo Colon Capsule Endoscopy. Patients expected and perceived burden of CCE will be measured by 2 questionnaires, one prior to the procedure and one afterwards. The workability for the staff will be measured by a questionnaire which will be handed out to all staff working with CCE within this trial.
