SMS alerts to reduce toxicity and improve treatment compliance in cancer chemotherapy: A clinical trial

ABSTRACT: Intervention1: Text message (SMS): Patients in the intervention arm will receive, in addition to standard written instructions, periodic SMS after 4th, 7th and 14th day of starting first cycle of chemotherapy and similarly with each cycle for 3 cycles in peri-operative chemotherapy for stomach cancer, 3 cycles in adjuvant chemotherapy and 4 cycles in palliative chemotherapy for Colorectal cancer.
Control Intervention1: Standard written instructions: Patients in the control arm will receive standard written instructions during each chemotherapy visit to the hospital.
Primary outcome(s): - Number of Suspected Unexpected Serious Adverse Reactions (SUSARs)
- Number of delayed chemotherapy cycles due to toxicity
- Number of dose reductions due to severe toxicity
