Use of ultrasound to measure stomach volume in patients who take a carbohydrate drink versus fully fasted patients before surgery.

ABSTRACT: Intervention1: Maltdextrin drink (Carboload): The patients randomised in Group C will receive 800 ml Carboload feeding at around 10 PM the night before surgery and further 400 mL Carboload at around 6 AM on the morning of surgery.
Control Intervention1: Fasting: The patients in Group F will be fasted overnight and allowed water till 6 hours before surgery.
Primary outcome(s): The primary outcome to be measured in the study will be the RGV (in mL) measured with ultrasound.Timepoint: Just before induction of anaesthesia.
