ABSTRACT: Excess sugar consumption is common among youth and can have adverse health effects. However, the relationship between saliva microbiota and sugar consumption remains sparsely studied. We aimed to explore diversity, composition and functional capacities of saliva microbiota in 11–13-year-old Finnish children with low and high sweet treat consumption.
