IL1b signaling in human coronary artery endothelial cells
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: IL1b signaling is critically involved in inflammatory diseases. However, the gene targets and mechanisms of IL1b mediated inflammatory processes in adult human vascular endothelium still remain unclear. We show that IL1b regulates genes coding for inflammatory cytokines, cell adhesion molecules and pathways through NFkB transcriptional activation. We further identify the genes regulated by IL1b that regulate endothelial barrier function and act as targets for known clinically relevant compunds. These findings stimulate further research to identify novel signaling mechanisms modulating endothelial barrier function in IL1b driven inflammatory pathologies.
