The short time-series transcriptome profiles of a human adipose mesenchymal stem cell by electrical stimulation of enzymatic biofuel cell

ABSTRACT: We investigate the mRNA expression properties of hAD-MSCs by electrical stimulation using EBFC as an electrical regulator. We set up three different electrical currents, at 120±10.2, 250±11.5, and 500±16.2 nA/cm2 in hAD-MSCs. We performed transcriptome profiling to analyze the impact of EBFC-derived electrical current on gene expression using next-generation sequencing (NGS). Among the 166 up-regulated genes, 98 genes were significantly enriched into the UniProtKB functional categories such as ribosomal protein, alternative splicing, ribonucleoprotein, and amino-acid biosynthesis. This indicate that the genes highly associated with metabolic regulation of cell growth and proliferation have been changed by electrical stimulation in the EBFCs.
