BMP9 signaling promotes the normalization of tumor blood vessels

ABSTRACT: We sought to evaluate the effects of BMP9 on tumor vascular formation. We observed that BMP9 promotes vascular normalization with decreased permeability and increased perfusion and perivascular cell coverage. Gene expression analysis of CD31-positive cells isolated from control and BMP9-overexpressing tumors revealed enrichment of pathways involved in Notch signaling and vascular quiescence.
