Crosstalk between histological alterations, oxidative stress and immune aberrations of the emerging PFOS alternative OBS in developing zebrafish
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Sodium p-perfluorous nonenoxybenzene sulfonate (OBS) has been widely applied as a novel PFOS alternative in many industrial fields. However, our knowledge about its toxic effects is limited. In this study, we reported the RNA-seq data for zebrafish exposed with perfluoroalkyl substance PFOS and its alternative OBS. It was used for evaluating the PFOS and OBS induced toxic effects at RNA level to zebrafish. The transcriptome analysis showed that the expression of most immune-related genes was upregulated in both PFOS and OBS treatment groups, but the latter was to a lesser extent. Simultaneously, PFOS exposure blocked the translational process represented by a significant decrease in the expression of eukaryotic translation elongation factor eef1, while the expression of other translation elongation factors did not increase to compensate. This study provides the toxic effects at transcription level when zebrafish exposed with PFOS and OBS.
