ABSTRACT: Macrophages in the bone marrow erythroblastic island (EIM) and splenic red pulp (RPM) are required for terminal erythropoiesis and removal of aged erythrocytes, respectively. This manuscript shows that EIM and RPM development require both PPARg and Spi-C.
